those common household surnames are a headache to research. I have Cross's and if I'm not careful I get every darn church and cemetery (as well as catholic schools, etc.) out there in my search. it's not the only one. I also have a German name that is innocent looking in English, but Google it and it turns up as "silence"...which means I get all sorts of hits for The Silence of the Lambs! aargh! and the surname dictionary says it's church incense, so why it shows up as silence when I google, I have no idea.
one of my two German lines (which are on the same side of the family, my maternal line) claims they changed their surname...or the spelling of it. now one of the lines I have found the spelling changed...alot, though spoken phoenetically they are still pretty much the same, but the other surname is untraceable, and so I wonder if it's the one? well, I am in the midst of writing the Anglo-German FHS in the hopes of breaking down a brick wall, as the latter ancestry does have ties to England.
well, good luck finding your Till...who-ever they are!
