Three Sullivan Families - all from Kerry

Sullivan: Derived from the Irish Gaelic, Ó Súilleabháin. Suil amháin means one eye, or possibly hawk-eye. Originally settled in County Tipperary, they spread into Kerry and Cork, where they are now most numerous and their surname is the most common

I have a Maria Margaret Sullivan b. abt 1826- Limerick?

She married James Fitzgibbon( b. 1826) on 13 Feb 1841 Bulgaden Limerick

Witnesses were James McCarthy & Catherine Sullivan.

Maria & James Fitzgibbon( s) children were:

Kate (b.1841)
Patrick (b. 1844)
John Thomas( b. 1846)
Johanna(b 1848)
Ellen (b.1850)
Bridget (b. 1855)
Mary or Maria (b. 1858)
James (b. 1861)
Margaret (b. 1864)

Several of  the children married & immigrated to the USA & Canada. I am not sure what happened to James & Maria?? not sure if they died in Limerick or not? can anyone help ?

I have found meanings for Sullivan as "black eye" or "hawk eye" so the name passed down as O'Sullivan would have meant "descendant of the black-eyed (or hawk-eyed)".

I am researching the Sullivan family from County Mayo, Ireland
however there is discrepancy as to whether the family are Sullivan or O'Sullivan

I too have Sullivan's in my family. Cornelius Sullivan from Kerry married to a Mary. He was a farmer. They married before 1844. They had a daughter Honora ( Nano) ( 1844) who married a John Casey (1839).They lived in Kulooneagh. She was 22 when she married.  Could this be the same family? Any information gratefully received.

I too am researching Sullivans!

I have a Daniel Sullivan & Bridget Sullivan (believe she was O'Sullivan), I have found their marriage in Tralee in Jun 1866, and have his parents listed as James O'Sullivan and Sara Wyles.

I have Bridget's parents as Daniel O'Sullivan and Mary Fitzgerald - married 12 Feb 1844 in Derrymore.

My g'grandfather was a JOHN SULLIVANb c 1837/38  aged 20  in  Feb 1858 when he joined the British Army in Aldershot, Hampshire UK.   On his army record it says he was 20 from Kilcummin, Co Kerry.
His marriage cert in 1863 Portsmouth England gives his father as EDWARD.   
I have not yet found his death(probably London bef 1916).
I  have searched for a birth - no luck so far.  He of course may not have been born in Kilcummin.  Is there another name for EDWARD - I believe Edmund but any others?

Also in Army Hampshire same time a Timothy and Daniel.
