Recently found a forebearer Thomas N (Naylor) Lucas on the 1851 census as the Curate of Melchbourn, Bedfordshire with his wife Sarah (nee Parkinson). I know Thomas was born South Carolina in 1817, entered Cambridge University (Peterhouse) in 1834, went to Australia with Sarah in 1839/40, appears on the Australian census for 1841, probably returned to Cambridge and completed degree in 1847. We also know he returned to South Carolina with Sarah by about 1861 and was an Episcopal Minister in Statebugh South Carolina.
As we know he was at Melchbourn in 1851 are their any records, local or church, or clues as to when they arrived and left Melchbourn or where they were between 1847 and 1861? They are thought not to have any children therefore no birth records to help with the answers.
Any help greatly appreciated.
