Italian POW's in Halifax
« on: Thursday 27 October 05 11:58 BST (UK) »
Can anyone provide me with a list of Italian POW's in Halifax during the 2nd World War.  I believe these once appeared in the October edition of the Anglo Italian Journal.

Hi Clarajo

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.  I am doing a bit of housekeeping work on this board and wondered if you have made any progress, or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

There is some information in this report, but it is far from complete.

If it does not contain what you are looking for the National Archives should have something.  Or perhaps the British Newspaper Library has a copy of that journal, in which case they can photocopy the pages for a small fee which seems easier than a trip to the National Archives.  Or if you are lucky someone has already researched it and left a report with the local library, which is unlikely but it does happen.

Try posting your query on the West Riding list at Rootsweb.com. It is very active at the moment with people with a lot of local knowledge.

Have you had any success with this? I have looked through all my copies of the journal of the AIFHS and nothing jumps out about POWs in Halifax, although there are various bits about POW camps in all parts of the British Isles.

What surname are you seeking?
Regards,
Julie
