I too thought it began with an 'H'  Pat - something resembling Happerty

However, when you see the 'W' in West Bromwich on the line below. they both look similar  ??? ???

BUCKLEY, Ches. & Lancs, DUNN, Ireland & Lancs. EDGSON, Rutland, Leics & Lancs. LYON, Lancs. McNULTY, Ireland & Lancs. MORRIS, Beds, Hunts & Lancs. SWARBRICK, Lancs. TURNER, Lancs. WILLIAMSON, Lancs.

This is Genuki's list of towns and parishes in Worcester.
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WOR/townsandparishes.htm

The possibilities could be a "soundex" of Abberley? Happerly
or Haggely for Hagley?

Just ideas, don't know the area.

I too looked at Genuki, but nothing 'jumped out'.
I'm hoping somebody from Worcester can throw some light !!

Hi
If you look up the entry on Ancestry.co.uk, for that census year, what does the printed page interpret it as.

There is a Martley but the 3rd and 4th letters appear to drop below the line as well as above which would lead me to suspect ff  or ss if written by someone with a flowing script.

Also Worcestershire used to have some detached areas which are now parts of other counties the Tipton/Dudley for one
Malmesbury- Bishop.
Gloucestershire-Bishop,Hicks,Higgs,Hill,Hooper,Hopkins,Pitcher,Robertson,Stinton,Terret,Woodruff.
Worcestershire-Stinton.
Devon- Borrough or Burrow.

Hi Stinton,

Already checked the printed page which shows Sapperton, Worcestershire, but the only Sapperton I could find is in Gloucestershire

 :( :(

How about Stapford followed by a big comma?

What year is it?
Are there any other clues from other years?

1851 Census
HO.107//2028

Rowley Regis
Staffs

Susannah BARNS/Wife/34/Whatever/Worcs

On the 1861 Census she gives her birthplace as 'Minnie Wood, Shropshire', and I can't find that either.
