WALLIS of Blackwall/Stepney?
« on: Monday 20 February 12 11:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

Have once asked about this family, from Blackwall, based on an obit. However have since found that on their emigration application to South Australia in 1837, they gave their address as Stepney.

Is their any info on them anyone can give?

Thomas Edward WALLIS, b. ~1807; and Sarah ALLEN, b. ~1800; were married at St Dunstan & All Saints Church, Stepney, Tower Hamlets, London, on 10.7.1825.

Children:
Richard b. ~1826
Mary Ann b. 23.11.1828
Thomas Edward b. ~1829
Jessie b. ~1834

Other children maybe Sarah and Ann
anyo other info greatly appreciated.
cheers
nudge.

Might this be the same Thomas & Sarah WALLIS who jointly baptised three children in Adelaide on 25 Nov 1838 (Thomas, Ann, Mary Ann) per www.familysearch.org?

OK so there's no point looking up UK baptisms for those children then.

Can you be a bit more specific about what information you are seeking about the family (and what you already have)?

unfortunately I have nothing else. I am descended from Mary Ann, that is why I have her birthdate, but I know very little about this family prior to their emigration in1837.

They may have been of Cornish origin. Thomas was a shoemaker by trade, as was his son Richard.
