Thanks for your note.  I have passed your message on to Dad.  Very kind of you to think of him.

He remembers being sent on holiday to Dublin but he thinks he was about 10/12 years old (born 1918) so doesn't quite fit and he stayed with his auntie Trinette in a holiday cottage.  He says he was sent back to Manchester in disgrace as he was teaching the local children how to smoke!  Because of his age he doesn't always remember things immediately but every now and then he starts talking about "the old days" so I now make sure I have a notepad handy and try to write down anything relevant.  Like you I have not always got time to keep in touch but will try to make the effort as none of us are getting any younger and it would be shame to break the chain and lose the memories and the facts.

Sligo / The Kubler Family

To Brianog

Have asked dad and his parents Augustus Henry Kubler and Frances Baxter moved to the Isle of Man at some point.  They then separated.  Augustus died on 13/03/1957 and is buried in the parish cemetery of German in Glenfaba which is on the west coast of the IOM (so called because it is where the cathedral of St German is located and not to do with our name - just a coincidence!).  Frances died on 17/08/1957 and is buried in the parish of Patrick, also in Glenfaba IOM.  Both of these parishes come under Peel now.  She lived in Glen Maye on IOM.  Don't know if dad has any photos - will ask him.  Hope this is of use to you.

To follow on from the last message I think dad was a little confused when he gave me those names (allowable at 91 yrs old!) and his dad was Augustus Henry Kubler and not Charles.  Apologies.  If I can help any more please get in touch.

Only just found this site and I may be able to fill in some gaps.  My name is Joy Kubler, married to David Kubler.  His father * born in 1918 is still alive and well at the ripe old age of 91 and lives with us.  His father was Charles Kubler and his mother was Frances Kubler.  His grandfather was called Gustave (possibly Charles Gustave) who was married to Martha.

Dad has one brother * born in 1920  (also still alive) who has two daughters, one of whom is called Trinette and we always wondered where the name came from but after reading your post it appears there was already one in the family.  It seems too much of a coincidence.

All dad (Cyril) remembers is that his dad had a brushmaking business in Dublin and is buried in a graveyard in Clontarf (hope that's how you spell it).
