Gosh! Thank you so much! I knew that the Church of Latter Day Saints had done tons of research work around the world, but I actually had no idea that that web site existed. (I'm relatively new to all this, I only started last November.)
Thanks again
Chrissie

Hi
Sorry, I think I pressed the send button by mistake! I'll start again.
The son of Robert - also called Robert and my great, great grandad - wrote out a very detailed family tree inside a book at some point in his later life. My cousin currently owns the book. Unfortunately, although the tree is very detailed with all who came after him, it goes no further back than his parents.

Hi
I'm trying to discover the parents of one Robert Waller, who was born in Guisborough in June 1784. He married a Mary Thompson, and one of their children was also called Robert. Robert Waller was my great, great, great grandad. I've spent hours searching on ancestry.co.uk, but don't seem to be able to get any further back than him.
Any help out there please?
If anyone knows anything about Mary Thompson's parents as well, I'd be very grateful. She was born around 1801 in North Yorkshire somewhere.
Thanks!
Chrissie

Many thanks for that! I've already had a quick look at the link - it's really interesting and obviously warrants some time spending on it!

Cheers

Northumberland / Todd family

Hi
I have an ancestor called John Todd, who I believe was born in Newcastle in 1789. He married someone called Elizabeth, who I know nothing about. I would love to find out Eliazbeth's maiden name and any other details possible about her parents.

Likewise, if anyone knows anything about John Todd's parents I would be very grateful.

The pair of them had a son called Richard Todd, born in Stockton in 1816, who is my great, great, grandfather.

Here's hoping someone can help me...
Cheers

Hi Gina
Thanks very much, that all looks very possible. I had already found the 1891 census and wondered if that was him, but not the 1881 census. That marriage certificate definitely looks worth buying, and it does look like perhaps Hannah was married to George's father before she married Thomas Sayers. On George's marriage certificate it does say that his father Edward Askwith was deceased.

As far as the birth certificate is concerned, I do have the one you suggest but it has his father down as Thomas Wilson and his mother as Jane Ann Pattison. This doesn't fit - especially not with the information about his father on his marriage cert.

Cheers and thanks again

Hi
I'm trying to find information on the parents of one George Thomas Wilson, who was apparently born in Thirsk in 1869. George married a girl called Margaret Hewison and had the following children: Olive M, Robert E, George H and William Ernest. William Ernest was my grandfather. I have George Thomas' marriage certificate, which says that his father was called Edward Askwith Wilson. However, I cannot seem to trace any information on Edward Askwith Wilson, nor do I seem to be able to find the correct birth certificate for George Thomas. (I have bought several so far, none of them have Edward Askwith down as the father.)
Any help at all out there please?

Sorry, nothing especially strange about my fingers guys. I won't mention my webbed feet and small brain! Just kidding  ;).
My brother and I had a day exploring Leeds looking for graves and family homes just the other day; not only for Crowthers but also Archs, the maternal side of my family. I've begun adding lots of present-day pictures of locations my ancestors lived in on my family tree on ancestry.co.uk as well as photos of ancestors where I have them. I've also added as much information as I have about ancestors; addresses, occupations plus any anecdotes. If you can access this, please have a look.
Next time I'm in Leeds I must make a point of having a drink in the Black Horse, Paul. I'm really excited at the idea of drinking in the same pub as George!
Considering that George became a publican, this is a nice link back to the start of this thread.
Cheers all,
Geoff

Thank you all so much for your valiant efforts with my really tired old photo.
excellent results.
Xin, liked your photo but I think you might have misinterpreted the big gap as part of the little one's clothes. It's not; the whole surface of the photo is missing there. Please accept that as constructuive criticism as I can see you might have thought it was a dress or similar. I trust you won't think I'm being ungrateful.

Any other thoughts about the date folks?

Thanks again to all.
Geoff
