thank you all !

I will send off to the places mentioned.

I have loads of info about Bede and the history, but i was my great grand dad that did some of the restoration work there.

Sometimes I want to kick myself -  I wish I had started researching while i was still in Yorkshire - not when i moved to Canada!

Have a Merry Holidays!

Durham / Jarrow and Bede

Hello,

I am looking for pictures from work done in Jarrow in the 1920-40's, anything to do with Bede.  My great-granddad was part of the carpentry team and he was featured in the pictures.  I have seen them in the past but they seem to have been lost.  They were published in a book about Jarrow.  I am unsure of the title though.

His name was Joseph Esdale Brown, but I am unsure if his mame was listed in the book.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely

Sharon  :)

 - is this marriage in 1927 relevant? Euphrosina Kostiuk b. around 1909, Montreal, father George, mother Catherine Sochlotocka?
Married a Theodore Daskaluk from "Bucovina".

Do you know the religion of the family?

I also found this information, but i have no confirmation if it links up.  I have a feeling it does - just have to figure out how ...

I am uncertain of the religion.  There is alot of drama and half truths in the generation that leads to this generation i have posted here in the family.  My mother in law lost her mother ( daughter of Kathrina)in a crash when she was 7.  Her father refuses to ever talk about it and disconnected from that side of the family.  There has been some contact in recent years, but it is new.

Thank you for the information tho,

Sharma

It's possible that this is the place you are looking for. Different spelling... so it's just a start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zborowskie,_Silesian_Voivodeship

JewishGen has two possible places too.

For Austria/Poland you should be looking at the bottom third of the country and a little into Ukraine.

edit: the spelling of the names suggest Ukraine. 'uk' in Daskaluk is a Ukrainian form.

thank you for that info ...i might have more luck now I have the proper spelling!  I will check out the jewishgen today.

Greetings all  :)

I have recently started researching my husbands side of the family.  It is proving a little more difficult than my own.  I was hoping that some one out there may also be searching some of the branches of this crazy tree!

I have gleaned some from family. The distant family is also sending me some more info, but i the mean time I thought I would run with what I have and see where it takes me.

Here is the snippets of information that comes from my mother-in-laws cousin:

Katernina Sokolototska was born in Austria in circa 1894, sent by family to a family friend in Montreal, Quebec at the age of 15/16. I do not know the town but I hear she had a sister and her grandmother and Uncle used to hide young soldiers who did not want to go to war and they were caught and punished. I also hear (from Aunt) that they made the history books. Does anybody know where I could find this reference in the history books?

My grandfather (her 2nd marriage) Alaxa Daskaluk (Doskaliuk) came from a town Zebreowski (according to birth cert. of my Aunt). The town was in Poland or Russia or Ukraine but the cert. says Russian. Where is this town? I have searched but can not find it. He was born in circa 1887.They were married in Montreal, Quebec in 1920.

I think her questions hold true and i was just wondering if anyone out there had any ideas or suggestions.

All the Best

Sharma
