I didn't realize the workhouse had it's own maternity unit.  The puzzle arises from the fact that my great grandparents were married in Treherbert in October 1894.  In the 1901 census they were registered as still married and all living at home!!!!

I can only assume the parents must've fallen on hard times for a while or the husband was away working!!

Hi

I'm trying to establish why my Grandmother was born in the Union Workhouse - Pontypridd in 1900.  Yet in the 1901 census she reside with her parents in Cardiff Road, Treforest, Pontypridd.

Where do I start to unravel this puzzle??

Elizabeth's maiden name was "Coole".    She was married to Thomas Brackenbury (1851 – 1880).
