I have checked FamilySearch and Ancestry and am at a loss. I am looking for the first marriage of Walter Oldfield LOWE born 4th Feb 1861 in Liverpool, UK. He is in Liverpool for the 1881 Census, not the 1891 census. He has a son named Walter William LOWE born in Rosario in 1889 and Robert McDonald LOWE born in Rosario in 1891. He then shows up as a Widower in the 1895 Argentina national Census. He is back in Liverpool for the 1901 census. He later marries the American Alma SCHAUB and has more children.
So who is his first wife and the mother of his first 2 children? The marriage appears to be in Argentina and also her death.
Thank you

Wow. Thank you so much, that information is wonderful.
The tree owned by Mackenzie is me, so I have his details in Australia, but really wanted before he emigrated. You have given me that. Thank you so much

Is it possible to find anything on Adolf Carl Peter Bruning? Born Hamburg Free City 7 NOV 1890 according to his naturalisation papers. He went to England, was there for 1911 Census and then migrated to Australia in 1912. Ended up in Adelaide. He was a glassblower.
Ancestry says that it has a birth record (maybe) , but I don't have a world subscription. Just anything about his parents or anything from Germany. I seem to have a lot of info, but it is a dead end at this stage.
Thank you for any help at all

Thank you for that Rosie and Max. So it appears that he is going to be difficult.
I will check out the Surrey History and see how we go.
Thanks again

Looking for military information on Alfred BRADSHAW born 1861, in East Surrey Regiment, 3rd Battallion, supposedly deserted in May 1881. Number 753.

I have been told that there may be information on Ancestry, but I don't have the access.

Any info on his military "career" and desertion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps

Thanks for the info on the Naturalisation. The family is in the Benevolent Society on 27th September 1881, that is why I am assuming that they arrived around that time.

Regards

The info that Gus gave on his Naturalisation request was that they came on a 3 masted sailing ship, landed in Newcastle and proceeded to Sydney the same night... doesn't say how, so it could have been by another vessel.

All of this gives me other avenues, thanks heaps.

Australia / Herbahn family immigration to Newcastle
« on: Tuesday 02 February 16 01:28 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for the shipping record for Henriette HERBAHN (or HERBOHN) aged approx 29 and her children Gustave, Hermina, John, Augusta and Amelia. Who have arrived in Newcastle in late September 1881 having sailed from New Zealand.

The family is German but emigrated to New Zealand in 1875.

The family story goes that they arrived in Newcastle and came by coach to Sydney. They show up in Benevolent Society records arriving on 27/9/1881 and being taken out by Henrietta's husband the next day. So the ship would have arrived in Newcastle maybe on the 26th September?

Thank you heaps for your help
