Yes all very useful, thank you. Like you said now with the addition of a new surname it may complicate things.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I recently found a will from 1661 for my relative William Taplin/Taplyn who was living in Taynton. From the will I know he had 2 daughters, a son and a wife however the writing is so difficult to read I can't make out the names.

Would greatly appreciate any input as to the rest of the family and how far back the Taplins lived in the area for.

Many thanks,

Anna Taplin

Hi Luke,

Great to hear from you.

Yes I found Richard's death record eventually, buried 1809 aged 45. My Richard is a bit of a mystery - not sure where he was born can't find any birth records which match. The first record I have is his marriage record to Elizabeth Cooper in 1789 St Dunstans. Then his two children's birth records William and Letitia.

How did you know Richard worked for Leny Smith? I found a Old Bailey Record relating to the Crape Factory so that's how I know.

Is your Thomas Taplin the one who had several children at St John's? If so I've been trying to make a connection between him and Richard. He was married at St Dunstans too wasn't he?

Hi, thanks for that Springbok. I've been looking for a Richard Taplin who did have a business in Hackney but seems to dissapear from records after 1801. Really frustrating! I've checked ancestry for him but no luck!

Hi, would be extremely grateful if someone could look up the name, Taplin in the 1811/1821/1831 Hackney census. Many thanks, Robin
