The Common Room / Researching offspring who may not have survived
« on: Monday 15 March 10 18:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I am still quite new to family history research, but I wonder if someone can tell me the best (easiest? cheapest? quickest?) way to find out how many children were born to a marriage, some of which may not have survived to be named in the censuses?

Are copies of birth certificates available to be viewed at county archives, or anywhere else, or is my only option to take a guess from the Birth and Death indexes, and order up the relevant certificates?

Thank you

Dee

Hi all

Please help me to make PMs work ???

I'm a newbie to RootsChat, (one day old!) and am trying to reply to a PM.

I'm told I have to click on the member profile and then on a little green scroll or a link that appears in the profile box. But I just can't see either in the profile, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere where I can start my own PM.

Can someone help, please?

Thank you
Dee

Quaker Family History / Re: Banbury Quakers - Where were they buried?
« on: Tuesday 24 November 09 21:43 GMT (UK)  »
There is a Quaker burial ground at Sibford Gower, about 5 miles from Banbury. It is opposite and down the hill from a wonderful Cotswold pub called the Wykham Arms (the map on the pub website will help you find it: www.wykhamarms.co.uk/).

If you are still searching for info, I've probably got a contact number for one of the Friends who manages the burial ground, and might have a list of burials, but I don't want to post it publicly. I'm new to this site - is there a way to communicate 'offline'?

There is also a Quaker Boarding school at Sibford Ferris, the next village, where you might be able to find more information.
