World War One / Royal Naval Reserve Service Numbers around WW1
« on: Saturday 23 August 14 22:53 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to get RNR Service Record for a cousin who served during WW1. Through Ancrestry web site I find him three times with different Service Numbers. All entries have the same date of birth and place of birth. Being a very small village in the Outer Hebrides he is the only possible person to have been born there at that time.
Ancestry web site re-directs me to the National Archives to view the Records. They have exactly the same details as Ancestry - three records for the same person and three different Service Numbers. To view the records (3) each must be paid for.
Can anyone tell me if it was usual for RNR sailors to have different Service Numbers during their time with the Navy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Antrim / Ballycastle Photo 1950s Please help
« on: Monday 01 March 10 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
My sister and I used to visit my Grandmother's family in Ballycastle in the the early 1950s.

I'm trying to identify my relatives who are in this early 1950s photo which I believe was taken outside 28 Glentaisie Drive, Ballycastle.

My grandmother was Ann McAuley born 2/12/1877 to Charles McAuley(blacksmith in Knocknacarry).

On the back of the the photo is 'at Aunty Kate's'.

Does anyone recognise anyone in the photograph?

Is the old man in the photo Charles D McAuley who was the blacksmith in Knocknacarry?

If so, which of the women in the photo is his wife Kate (nee McLaughlin). And is the other woman in the photo his sister in law Maggie (McAuley).

The link to the photo is here:-

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Re: Electoral Roll Look Up - Ballycastle- 1951-53
« on: Saturday 13 February 10 23:07 GMT (UK)  »
I was told today by the Belfast Central Library that there are no Electoral Roll Registers for the early 1950s.

There must be some way of finding out who was resident at an address at a particular time.

Someone must know

This is a scan of an old b&w negative I found.

I do hope someone can restore me to my former beauty as I have very few photos of when I was young.

Thanks

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Electoral Roll Look Up - Ballycastle- 1951-53

I'm researching my grandmother's family in Co Antrim. She was Ann McAuley from Cushendall.

I used to visit her family, as a child, in Ballycastle in the early 1950s and believe the address was 28 Glentaisie Drive, Ballycastle.

I have photographs but am unsure of the names of the people who lived at that address, possibly her brother and sisters, I would be grateful if any of the members who have access to old Electoral Rolls could look up the eligible voters who lived at this address at that time.

Many thanks

Hello aghadowey,

Thanks for your link to the background of the photo.

I posted on the Antrim Historical Society site and recieved information from a member giving the name and location of the street: Glentaisie Dr in Ballycastle.
