Staffordshire / Re: Richard Parrott's 1733 survey of Audley
« on: Thursday 30 March 17 03:00 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Cathy, wonderful information to have.
Scrolling down I noticed a mention of Church Farm where another ancestor of ours, Benjamin Leighton and his wife Hannah, farmed until 1857 when Hannah sold the farm stock.  In Audley, Leighton history can be traced back to the early 17th century, one of Benjamin's descendants later married into the Downing family and this is the line I'm interested in.  Not sure yet whether Ralph Downing is of the same line but hope so.

Staffordshire / Richard Parrott's 1733 survey of Audley
« on: Thursday 16 March 17 00:02 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if Richard Parrott's survey of Audley in 1733 is available on-line?
I'm trying to trace my Downing ancestors in Audley Staffordshire and would very much like to know if there is any mention of any Downing/Dunning/Dounynge families in the survey.
Would appreciate any help

Australia / ELECTORAL ROLL help to find Richard Richardson
« on: Sunday 20 September 15 09:59 BST (UK)  »
Could I request help please finding information on the Electoral Roll, or anywhere else, about Richard Richardson.
He was born in Victoria in 1891 and eventually moved to Sydney probably in the early 1900s.
The only address I have for him is in 1957, in Burlington Road Strathfield.

The City of Sydney archives have some images of Brisbane Street Surrey Hill on their Archive Pix image library.

Sorry Eileen, as far as I know John's father was name John.  This name was on his death certificate but the details on death certificates are only as good as the informant and can sometimes just be a guess.
Good luck with your search

Thanks again for your great help.  Samuel E Fowden on the medal index card is such a close match, the best lead yet,  but here again it seems he doesn't want to be found.  There is no sign of him on the Forces War Records and we may have come to another dead end as I understand many of the WW1 service records were destroyed during WW2.

Ancestry.com has some WW1 service records, the closest is a Samuel Foden.

The Royal Pioneer Corps. have a site with loads of information relating to the Pioneers and I'm hopefully of finding more by going down this road.

Keep your fingers crossed!
Many thanks
