Wow thank you so much Geoff  I didn't think I would receive a reply on this one at all, you are a real godsend.   ;D

I'm sorry for the late reply but have just returned from our holiday.  I now have 5 days to research all this info before my brothers wedding!

Thanks again

I am desperately trying to find the ancestors of Abraham Mills baptised 30/09/1759 in Surrey who married Margaret Combes on 26/07/1781 in Godalming.  The only persons I found were Ned (Edward??) and Ann? as possible parents but no other info.

I would be very, very, grateful if anyone could help!

Thank you

Annie   :'(

Hey cousin I received your message and have emailed you  ;D

I will get my wizz kid daughter to scan the photos and email them to you.  Some of them look like an episode of a Victorian drama!

Although I'm a Grannie now I feel like Mike and Wendy (Diddymiller) are the 'parents' of the Leicester forum,  all knowing, all seeing, experts on anything to do with Leicestershire families and the rest of the crew are so helpful so if ever we get stuck we can always ask for help on here  ;)

Yay I have a living relative here on Roots!!!!  Hi Anthony.

I have actually got all 21 names of the children but I am always hungry for information on the family.  I grew up around Spinney Hill and knew that we had family dotted all around there.  I do get a little confused at times as to who is full or half blood related lol.  Mum always talks with great affection of her grandfather Harry Beaumont and she tells me that her great decorating skills came from watching him at work.  She even named my brother Gary 'Beaumont' Mills.  I do remember my mum's half sister Linda who I occasionally see and who gave me some wonderful photographs of great grandparents and great aunts.  I know that my grandmother Annie and her husband split up in 1944 and he moved in with the lady who later became his second wife (Linda's mum).  Apparently they only lived a few doors away in Earl Howe Street.

We will definitely have to share info although I don't know the best way to do that.  Any ideas??

Hi Brian and fellow searchers  ;D

After Brian's help I have been continuing my search and have found a Henry Miles and Elizabeth Fibbens who married in Dunsford on 17th Jan 1799.

Would I be right in saying I should now be following the Miles line back as opposed to the Mills'???  I'm so confused!

Surrey / Mills' in Surrey

Hi Guys I need help!!!  :'(

In the 1851 census my ggg grandfather William Mills was shown as age 46 born in Dunsford Surrey.  His wife Eliza was born in Bramley and the children all born in Goldaming.

Living in Leicester I can only assume that these places are all within Surrey boundaries but I cannot find them in an earlier censuses, marriages etc.,

Do any of you super sleuths have any ideas where to look next?

Ooohhh my aunt and family lived on Mere Road towards the bottom near Charny!

Wish it was all still there so I could force my poor offspring to trawl around my childhood home!  ;D
