Hi all - I have just picked up this line on rootschat but have already been in contact with several of those on this list. Just to join the throng - I am descended via Robert Wicks GIBBONS b.1809, who was a brother of a John Thomas Gibbons b.1808,a Richard Gibbons and a Charles Gibbons (1811-abt 1876 m.Jane HEATHER).
They were all sons of a John GIBBONS (1783-1861) and Mary Bird WICKS (1779-1820).
John GIBBONS (1783-1861) was a grocer in Great Marlow and he was the son of a Thomas GIBBONS (1744-1824) and Sarah CROCKETT (abt.1749-1810) and whose memorial headstone in All Saints Churchyard in Marlow has been mentioned.
This Thomas (1744-1824) was a ropespinner.
Thomas Gibbonss and Sarah Crockett had 7 children :-
John (1783 - 1824) m. Mary WICKS - already mentioned
Jane 1784-1785 Thomas b 1784 who married Sarah BELL - already mentioned
another Jane (1788-1794) whose memorial headstone lies beside her parents
Richard (1791-1809) Charles (1792-1793) and Elizabeth (1794 - ?)
I have a lot more details of this Marlow Family
