yes, i'm a gailey on my mother's side. i'm in the states. many gaileys emigrated to america; our branch originated in killylastin, outside letterkenny, and came here about 1880. i have identified my gr gr grandfather, andrew james gailey, and know a fair bit about him and his family. i know almost nothing about his father, james gailey. andrew james' wife was named anne gailey, and her father was another andrew gailey. again i know little about them, other than their origin was apparently killylastin.
i must say i find the repetition of andrews/josephs/johns/roberts/james challenging when it comes to sorting out gailey connections. and the propensity to marry cousins doesn't help.
at any rate, i'm trying to sort out the various gaileys running around ireland in the 19th century, and have made good progress for most living from the mid 1800's onward. those from the first half of the 1800's are more problematic, and the current focus of my research.
your information helps me place some of the puzzle pieces i am still trying to fit in somewhere; am i right that elizabeth was born 1868, sarah 1869, agnes 1871, and daniel 1872? as for death dates, i found a daniel in the lds pilot that was born in donegal in 1873 (birth dates are generally an estimate on a death record) and died in 1955; are you sure your daniel died in 1951? anyway, it's good to know that agnes was a family name for this branch, since i have at least one other agnes that i'm trying to figure out. i think "your" agnes can be found boarding with the orr family in cromac, antrim in the 1911 census. i think the orrs were related to at least one branch of the gaileys, but don't happen to have those records handy. i can search for them if you like.
