John

Many did not come back from WW1, those that did had many problems. Some could not cope.

I have not found out whether Charles Hogg Stewart had any children. Still looking at period 1920 - 1944.

My research is concentrating on Charles, what is his story?

What happened to him after the war and after he got married. The period between 1920 and 1944.

Just found that record an hour ago. Thanks.

I have details of the other brothers and sisters but Charles is a bit of a mystery.

The real story is how does his father, a coachman in Scotland end up selling prestige cars in London. He got there via Bristol where he was a chauffeur.

I am researching Charles Hogg Stewart born 1898 Dunoon, Scotland

Married Melanie Marie Roberts 1922 Fulham, London. She was born 1899 Kensington, London.

Charles died 1944 Fulham.

Melanie married Leonard A Girouard 1945 Fulham. She died 1963 Ealing, London

Charles would have been my granduncle. He was my grandmother's brother, (Rose Harriet King Stewart 1896 - 1974)

Posted in this forum because the family left Scotland at an early age and moved to London.

Thank you, I thought that might be the case. She could well be alive as you say.

Thank you a lot of good information for me to work through.

Is it possible to find out the name of the daughter of Jack G. Davis, as stated in obit?

Joseph G Davis, 30, Actor, with wife Mary Isabel Davis, 27, an Actress left the UK in 1904 for New York.

He was a successful actor known as James Gunnis-Davis.

In 1910 he is in New York:
James Gunnis-Davis
Mary I Gunnis-Davis
James I J Gunnis-Davis - son born in 1907

In 1930 the family were resident in Los Angeles and by this time they were enumerated as James Gunnis-Davis, Mary I Gunnis-Davis and James S Gunnis-Davis, aged 23 a Motion Picture Photographer.  Obviously young James Jnr followed the family profession into the movies and also changed his middle name.

James Snr - Died: March 23, 1937 (age 63) in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=11280518

Does anyone have any knowledge of this family?
