Can anyone give me advise on how to find records for my ancestors who left Scotland by ship I assume to go to Pennsylvania? They left in 1887. Thanks 😊

Sandra,
What can I say? Thank you very much for spending time to help me out. There's so much there to digest, I'm going to look carefully at all the links and try and fill in some gaps in the FT.
You're a star🌟
Thank you
Pauline

United States of America / McKEEVER & KANE- Ireland to Scotland to Philadelphia relatives
« on: Wednesday 11 February 15 13:22 GMT (UK)  »
My Great great Grandparents James McKEEVER and Hannah Jane KANE born & married in Ireland, moved to Scotland and had family one being a son John McKEEVER (1854-1912) and another a daughter Hannah McKEEVER 1861-1906 both died in Philadelphia. There were more children but not ones that moved to USA.
My dad always told me that his uncle John went there to be a university lecturer and could rhyme off the address of the university but he is no longer here to ask😒
If there are any relatives past or present who can enlighten me in any way about John or Hannah and their families I would be very grateful for any information.
Thank you
Pauline

Thanks SOooo much! This has given me lots of options to try and I'm very grateful. The bit that really sticks out for me is the deaths in Pennysylvania. My dad used to always tell me about an uncle John who went off to be a university lecturer there and he rhymed off the address of the university that they used to send letters too. No one else seemed to remember that but now I know it was true that he did go there. Sadly my dad is no longer here to remind me of the address but I'm hoping that I've written it down somewhere. Maybe I can look at shipping lists or similar for emigration. Lots to do, so excited! Thanks

Hi Gaffy,
Thanks a bunch for this info. I got the mother's names via my sister in law who has already started research but we're stuck as to going back a bit more. I was over in Bekfast at PRONI and GRO but a couple of days is not enough to gather all the info, I hope to go back soon.
Thanks again for your help

Looking for assistance in tracing details for Patrick McKeever's parents and Sara McDaid's parents. Patrick and Sara were my great grandparents.
Patrick & Sara were married 3rd Feb 1883 in RC church, Eskiheen, Donegal.
Patrick's parents were James McKeever & Hannah Jane Kane.
Sara's parents were Neil McDaid & Rose Ann McGowan
I'd be grateful for any help/advise
Thanks

Fife / Re: St Monance paddling pool .

Hi Graham,
I still remember the postcards with photos of a very busy poolside. Agree with Harry's friend it was just one big pool but with a wooden plank across the shallow end. The putting green was on the grass area nearby and that's where we also bought bottles of fizzy juice  and crisps. Later they replaced this with trampolines. The metal chute that ran from the caravan site down the brae towards the sea is no longer there. We used to go down it sitting on bread paper to go faster. I also remember the sandcastle competitions which I won once and got a real cotton embroidered handkke as my prize.
Regards
Pauline
