Wexford / Re: Shudall Family

Hi, I really want to talk to Katharine75

We really want to chat.  I just sent you another message (hopefully) from another thread about the Gores.  It is obvious that we are on the same connection as this is now the Shudalls.  The Gores and the Shudalls are both in my husband's mother's line in the Wexford area.  Hopefully somehow this message will get through to you because I am not sure how to do that directly.

Thank you.  I found it.  Now I at least know how to spell it properly.  You're very helpful.

Wexford / Fannistown, Wexford - is there such a place COMPLETE
« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 20:40 BST (UK)  »
I am from Canada so am operating in blindness here.  My mother-in-law claims that many of her ancestors came from Fannistown, Wexford, but I am unable to locate such a place anywhere in Wexford or indeed in Ireland at all.  The closest I was able to come was a Fanningstown, Limerick, which is so far away that it couldn't possibly be right.  Does anyone know what place my mother-in-law may have been thinking of?  Other of her family come from Enniscorthy, Taghmon, Duncormick, etc.  Thanks in advance.

Ireland / Re: Dying Intestate 1921 Ireland

Therefore, the only way that the estate would pass into the care of the state would be if there were no identifiable surviving relatives of any kind??  The estate would have been disbursed within a reasonably short time after the death of the person??  Even in 1921 it wouldn't have been given only to the oldest surviving child??

Ireland / Dying Intestate 1921 Ireland
« on: Monday 29 March 10 00:52 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me what would happen to a widow's estate in 1921 if she died without making a will?  She had 3 daughters ages 22 to 18 at the time of her death.  She died in an asylum where she had been commited after the death of her husband in 1912.  Her husband's brother and his wife had had the care of the daughters and to a certain extent some control over some of her finances, at least that which was supposed to be spent for the upkeep of the daughters.  I have been unable to determine why she was committed to the asylum or by whom.  I am in Canada so I have no idea how Ireland handles intestate matters.  Thanks.

All excellent suggestions.  I will check them out and let you know.  Her marriage record, which I have, unfortunately leaves no clues but the others may.  Will post later.  Thanks for your suggestions.

How can I make the connection between these two?  I have seen this listing before but I don't know how to make sure that this is the same Sarah Homan.

Wexford / Re: GORE, Arthur, born 1828 - Manner of death
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 17:00 GMT (UK)  »
The child Arthur born in 1874 was his son and he died in 1875.  I do not know the name of the girl as the story came from my mother-in-law's mother who was the first Arthur's granddaughter.  If Arthur had been born in 1805 and was fooling around with a young girl in a hay barn after the year 1874, he was a spry old gentleman.  It may be that the story is entirely false.  I just can't imagine this girl's brother causing 2 deaths, whether accidental or out of malice, and it not getting into the papers or into the courts.
