Do you have information on a John CLARK (died 1885) or his wife Elizabeth SCOTT (died 1894)?
Thanks.

As suggested by  tropicalj I now have Ernest's marriage to Bessie Crawford certificate.  His father is listed as George ROLES (deceased) Labourer and mother unknown.  I am still unable to locate information about a marriage between Ernest Sydney ROLES and Margaret Lucy HENDERSON (nee COOK).  Any information welcome.

Hi Muss,
Thanks for the link to the Army records for Bessie ROLES.  She seems to have had a pretty busy time
Enlisted in the Army - date unknown
- 1942 Married Ernest Sydney ROLES
- 1943 Discharged from Army
- 1944 In the divorce courts in Nov with HILL being listed as co-respondent
- 1945 Married Donald Maxwell HILL, Goulburn NSW
She appears to have still been residing with Donald in Goulburn according to 1980 Electoral Rolls.
Cheers, Lyn

Thank you so much for all the suggestions and links.  I'm in the process of following them up and also talking more with Bryan.

Yes, the paperwork is very interesting.  Bryan obtained a set when he visited Canberra not long ago.  It seems to me, that Dick may have been a ward of the state or something like that as at the time of his enlistment in 1940, it is noted that his certificate from the Child Welfare Dept had been sighted (beside his date of birth entry).  He listed as his next of kin : Ernest Ralph Iverack (who lived with Hilda May Iverack at 18 Nicholson St North Sydney)  At this stage, I have no idea what the relationship was with Mr Iverack.  At the end of his WW2 service, Margaret Lucy Roles is listed as his NOK and again when he applied to join the Reserve Air Force after the war.

I am researching the Henderson family on behalf of Bryan who is Margaret Lucy COOK's younger son.  In June 1944, she divorced her husband Ernest Albert HENDERSON on the grounds of his adultery with Kathleen Maud James whose husband was also granted a decree nisi at the same time. (Ref: Chronicle Thursday 29 June 1944, p25 - sourced through Trove).  I haven't yet found out when (or if) Margaret married Ernest Sydney (Dick) ROLES but he was a great step father to Bryan. We would welcome any information or contact to further this research. Lyn Clark

Agnes Selina Miles married Charles William Evelyn JONES 31 December 1874 in New Zealand. We have not been able to find out exactly when they moved to Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. Their children (some born in NZ) were:
Edith Evelane JONES (known as Evie) who married George MILLER
Charles Frederick Palmer JONES (known as Fred) who remained a bachelor
Agnes Helen JONES - an infant death
Walter Trevor JONES who married Elizabeth (unknown surname)
Life Hubert Henry JONES (known as Harry) who married Amy THOMAS
Isobel Georgina JONES - infant death
Arthur Francis Frederick JONES who went to UK (he married Elizabeth Temperance Amelia WARD
Charles William Evelyn JONES (Jnr) who married Eva May ELLIOTT
Charles WE Jones (Snr) died on the same day as his last son was born.
Agnes Selina MILES/JONES brought up another child William (Bill) JONES whose history is not known. He married Annie Matilda Catherine WARD (a sister to Elizabeth WARD).
Some time after her youngest child married, Agnes Selina went back to New Zealand (escorted by her bachelor eldest son Frederick) to marry William McCATHIE.
I hope that helps.  I will follow up your suggestions. Thanks. Lyn Clark

I have only just discovered this discussion while working on research for Agnes Selina MILES and the BREACH connection. My husband is a direct descendant of the youngest of Agnes' 8 children, Charles William Evelyn JONES who was born on the day that his father died (9 Mar 1886) and was given his full name. Do you need any further information or pictures of Agnes during her Australian time?
