Cavan / Re: Brown/Browne;McKeogh & Harrison;Johnston
« on: Friday 04 October 13 04:53 BST (UK)  »
Thank you;
I have also come to the same conclusion that our spelling is incorrect..the only place it is recorded is on a death certificate here in Canada, and quite probably the person recording the certificate decided on the spelling. I am not sure how to verify this information as correctly belonging to our tree. Any hints?  I continue to search... now have been focusing on variations of the name McKaigue & McKeague etc.

Many thanks for the help thus far; I was able to visit Co. Cavan last year and  did confirm the marriage of Thomas Browne & Eliza Jane Brown or Harrison on 1 Sept 1880 in Chapel of Ease(Dernakesk) while at PRONI in Belfast. The witnesses at this marriage were Thomas Moore & Robert Vincent. I did get to visit The Chapel of Ease at Dernakesk, in Co. Cavan; but alas it was locked and no person nearby could direct me farther.

Will now be researching for more family members for Margaret(McKeague/McKaigue) & John Brown.

Looking for ancestors-
Information I have; Thomas Brown/Browne born 24 Feb 1857 Co. Cavan - died Canada
his parents-John Brown/Browne & Margaret McKeogh ---Grandaughter said name Brown was Browne in Ireland.

Thomas married (posssibly in 1880, Cootehill Cavan)  to Eliza Jane Harrison.

Eliza Jane Harrison born 14 March 1862 Co. Cavan - died Canada
her parents Ann Johnston and Joseph Harrison.

Thomas & Eliza Jane's eldest son born 10 Sept 1881 -- registration district --Cootehill Cavan.

Ann Johnston was born 15 Aug 1844--- her parents Adam Johnston & Ann ?

Found passage aboard Parisian arr. Quebec Canada 30 Sept 1882 for Thomas, Eliza Jane & infant Joseph

Interesting - found second passage aboard Polynesian arr. Quebec Canada 20 Sept 1886 for Ann Harrison matron aged 39;  Eliza Jane Brown matron aged 22, Children Joseph (age 4- b. Ireland), Margaret (age 2- b. Ontario Canada) & John (infant b. Rutherglen Scotland)

A return to Ireland in these times is highly unusual-- but fact show it to be true
Please help solve the mystery-- Thanks for any and all help appreciated

Derry (Londonderry) / John McCurry age 74 in 1911 Census completed
« on: Monday 14 December 09 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching my husbands family, any help from those one the forum would be appreciated.
I have John McCurry in the 1911 Irish census;living in house#2Carrowclare(Myroe Londonderry);he is listed as Head of Family-wife Mathilda, children John Francis,Sarah Jane, and Catherine. This is our Grandfather,Grandmother and Uncle and Aunts. My question is regarding the other member in the household- John McCurry - Father -age 74 widower and pensioner--- This indicates to me that the father of the head of the household was alive and living with his son in 1911.

Information given to me from another family member has this John born in 1837 and deceased in1864- of couse not possible if he was alive for the 1911 census. I haven't been able to find any other birthdate or death date for this gentleman;  any help would be appreciated.

According to 1911 census the family lived in the Tamlight Finlagen parrish, Barony of Kennaught and were Church of Ireland
