Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Duffel/Binnie - who were her parents
« on: Wednesday 22 May 13 00:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi Moyboy,
Wilson Beaney and Margaret Duffell/Duffield were my gt-gt-gt-gt-grandparents and I have quite a lot of information on them and their descendants. Are you descended from them as well?

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Hume and Howie
« on: Wednesday 01 December 10 09:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Joanne,

Im sorry to pick this thread up so late. I looked through all my fiches of Wooler Presbyterian baptisms and, like Janis, only came up with those of Ann in 1803 and Thomas in 1805.
On the subject of marriages, if you google 'Irregular Border and Scottish Runaway Mariages' you will find a GRO Scotland publication of that name listing all known existing records of such marriages and their locations. I had a look at my fiches of Coldstream marriages (1793 - 1797) and Lamberton Toll (1804 - 1816/1849 - 1885) but they are both probably too early or too late for your enquiry. Likewise, my two printed booklets of marriages at Lamberton Toll and of marriages recorded in the Berwick Advertiser and other Border papers are also too late, covering 1833 - 1849 and 1808 - 1864 respectively. There is a fiche of pre-1837 non-Anglican marriages in Northumberland compiled by George Bell but it only covers a handful of such Presbyterian marriages in Berwick, Norham and Tweedmouth.
I had a look on ScotlandsPeople but found no marriages between a Peter Rule and Catherine Howie. There were three baptisms of a Peter Hume around the date you gave for him, one in Dirleton, East Lothian, in 1777 (father John Hume), another in Kelso, Roxburghshire, in 1779 (father James Hume), and the third in 1780 in Roxburgh itself (father Thomas Hume). Given the name of Peter Hume's first recorded son, the last one is possibly the most interesting. Under Roxburgh baptisms for 21 May 1780, the full reading is: 'Thomas Hume in Sunlas (?) Hill had two children registered here, the first was born ist November 1778 and baptized by the name of Janet, the other born the 11th December 1779 by the name of Peter baptized'.

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Jane Langston
« on: Sunday 28 November 10 18:02 GMT (UK)  »
The Jane Langston aged 15, living with her father, James, and sister, Ann, in Bermondsey, was my husband's gt-gt-grandmother. She was born in Bermondsey 10 Dec 1824, and in1843 she married a widower, John Ward,  with whom she had four sons - so not the right Jane, I'm afraid.

Have you seen the Seaton Delaval Village website at www.seatondelaval.org.uk which has quite a few old photos, including at least one of Foremans Row? Just go to the 'Our History' section and then to 'Photographs'.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Look up for Willocks
« on: Monday 26 October 09 13:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Iddon,

I've just found your posting from last year regarding Joseph Willocks. He married Catherine McCann, the sister of my gt-grandfather, Hugh McCann, at St Walburge's, Preston, on 24 Sept 1898. On the marriage certificate his father is stated to be John Willocks, stonemason's labourer. I've only just started looking for Joseph's family but I've not had much luck so far. Have you acquired any further info since last year?

Kent / Re: Deptford 1861: missing pages
« on: Wednesday 03 June 09 17:14 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both for taking the trouble to look. I suppose it might be worth submitting a query to Ancestry as to why the pages peter out before the end of the enumeration district.

Kent / Deptford 1861: missing pages
« on: Tuesday 02 June 09 17:03 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know about pages missing from the 1861 census for Deptford St Pauls, Enumeration District 42? It's supposed to cover Bridge Place, Trundley's Lane, Midway Place, Lee Terrace, Robinson Terrace, Stanley Terrace and Lower Road, but I can't get beyond No 5 Robinson Terrace on either of the subscription sites which I use.  Unfortunately, the person I'm looking for - Walter  WARD, born  6 Feb 1861, was the son of John and Jane WARD who lived at No 6!

Thanks,

Kath

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Egremont baptisms c1819 - NICHOLSON
« on: Friday 15 May 09 12:13 BST (UK)  »
According to various census records, my gt-gt-grandfather, Joseph NICHOLSON, was born at Egremont c1819. If anyone has access to Egremont parish records, I would be grateful if they could find the names of his parents. Joseph married Margaret HARRISON at St Bees on 10 Oct 1836.

Thanks,

Kath
