thanks so much for your reply Ambly - I've had a bit of a breakthrough this morning (this is so addictive isn't it?!)

The Elsie from 1903 was the wrong Elsie - ours was actually born 1911, and yes Ellen Mycroft and Walter Waller were her parents so I've got a lot more information to go on now and hopefully get a bit further back.

Again many thanks :D

Stefanie

We've just remembered his grandfather was Walter Waller, and think there was also an uncle Walter and cousin Rodney.  Also now believe the surnamename Mycroft is connected in some way.

Thanks - Stefanie

Thanks both of you - we are struggling to come up with her parents names so I will look down these lines now and see if that sheds any light.  Apparently there was some discussion about whether Elsie was adopted at some point which is probably why it's proving so difficult. Thanks again

Hi there - managing to do a little more research into the Waller family (my F-i-L's maternal line)  he did visit family in Todwick but we think these were cousins of his mother not siblings.  His mother Elsie was born 1903; on the 1911 census it would appear she and ?a sister Doris were residing with Ellis Spencer Peace, his wife Sarah and another young child of a very similar age, Mildred.  No other adults present so we would assume (I know that's dangerous!) that this would again be a relative of some sort.  Would be grateful for any help or suggestions as we have no-one living to ask.
Kind regards - Stefanie

Hi there - I am interested in the Waller family from this area on behalf of my F-I-L who is a Smith from Shirebrook Sheffield; his mother was the daughter of Walter Waller and he was evacuated to Todwick during WW2.

Any information would be gratefully received.
