Thankyou, I have found the government website for ordering the service records. Interestingly the gov website says the service is free and they will send a digital copy where possible, but the pinned thread says the service £30. Perhaps that has changed.

Either way i have provided all of his personal details DOB, place of birth etc, so lets hope they can find it  :)

Hi All,

My Grandfather Francis Edwards (1907-1978) was in the Hussar's and served in India, but Ancestry doesn't seem to find any Military records for him. He was born North Shields, County Durham, but he lived in Kent from the age of 3 for the rest of his life, if that helps.

Is there anywhere I can look other than Ancestry to find his army service record?

What did you use as your search Criteria Sandra? I've tried searching for William Wright Edwards (with and without quotes), used a date range, set country to United states, filtered by obituaries and no filter at all, and i can't get a match for that funeral you found?

Just want to make sure i'm not missing any tips or tricks which it looks like i might be!

Thanks Carole, i've actually got all of Williams other records, DOB, Parents etc, it was only his 2nd marriage to Gwen in Ontario I was missing  ;)

Close match on the parents marriage, but not quite a match.  His parents were Joseph Edwards and Annie Wright married in Auckland, Country Durham, England 1898  ;D

I've never subscribed to the Newspapers part of Ancestry, but i might have to take a look!

Update: Ah I think the record IS on Ancestry!

Gwendoline Wanda Wilson.  Ontario, Canada, Marriages, 1826-1940

Apologies, I hadn't clicked the surname would be from her first marriage doh! No wonder no one has found it!

Would anyone with Canada access kindly be able to lookup the details for me please. Many TIA  :)

Thanks Carole, yes I have that info. There are a few trees that show that, but none show the 2nd marriage, which is what i'm looking for.

First husband George died 1938. Second husband William crossed the border in Nov 1945 and named Gwen as his wife. So i know they married between those dates.

I believe the son born 1936 is of first husband (who died 1938) and surname later changed on marrying 2nd husband.

Hello,

I'm trying to find the marriage record for William Wright Edwards and Gwendoline Wanda McNab (Correction: Gwendoline Wanda Wilson) which happened somewhere between 1938 and 1946, and almost certainly (but not 100%) in Ontario. Ancestry doesn't seem to have it, but i know its there somewhere.

Are any of you expert Roots Chatters able to find it :-)
