Pembrokeshire / Hardback book on Pembroke Dock, Park Street and Parish cemeteries
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 16:24 GMT (UK)  »
For those with an interest, with the greatest assistance of Bi-Cen Group of Pembroke Dock I shall be launching my 1st book in hard back this Saturday and will consist of the history of the headstones and memorials of the people buried at Park Street Cemetery  Pembroke Dock.
This book is to be followed by an accurate history of headstones and memorials of Garrison Cemetery Pembroke Dock.
The 3rd book will be a a hard back book on the Memorials, & Headstones of Pembroke St Mary, Pembroke St Michael and Monkton St Nicholas
The 4 book will be a hardback book on the ex-servicemen buried at Llanion, covering circa 1860's to 2010.

I have an inkling that Frances(Fanny) and what is left of the family reside in North Parade Havefordwest in 1871.

I can not find any reference to the baptism of Elizabeth at angle. I note that the baptism of Frances Esther the daughter of John & Elizabeth John of the East End Pembroke was baptised on the 1st May 1865
I also confirm the baptism of Francis John the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth John a Labourer of Lydstep Penally baptised on the 23rd Apr 1865
I also confirm the baptism of Martha on 16 June 1867 at Lamphey to Benjamin and Elizabeth John of Herberts Moor.

Owen,

from your transcript of "The 3 parishes", do you have anything for
Elizabeth Llewhelling ( Narberth ) m William James 1807 ( Moncton sic - Monkton?)

I have only just found william, but fairly sure he's my 4xG grandfather

thanks in advance, Geoff Williams
I trust the following is of interest ;
From my transcript of the parish registers of Marriages of Pembroke St Mary 1711 to 1950's I note the following
01st Nov 1807 William James of Pembroke St Mary married Mary James of Pembroke St Mary by banns in front of Nichs Roch. Both made their mark in the presence of James Thomas and George Chapman.

From my transcript of the Baptism Register of Pembroke St Mary 1711 to 1950's I note
29 Apr 1810 Mary to Wiliam & Mary James baptised
06 Mar 1808 Thomas to William  & Mary James baptised

Are you possibly confusing the church of St Peter's for the church of St Katherine's & St Peter's.

Pembrokeshire / Re: Oriel - Crunwere
« on: Wednesday 15 October 14 12:56 BST (UK)  »
Beware ~ There are two Thomas Oriels who each married a bride by the name of Martha Thomas one mrge was in 1839 and the other being in 1843.
The way to tell the difference is that one went up the valleys to work whilst the other remained in the Crunwere-Marros area and worked as a Gamekeeper.
I believe that nbr 1 Thomas Oriel who mrd in 1839 was baptised at Marros 27 Aug 1809.
I believe that nbr 2 Thomas Oriel who mrd 1843 was the son of Thomas & Rebecca Oriel baptised 14 Apr 1820 at Crunwere.
My research would suggest that it was nbr 2 Thomas Oriel who went up the valleys to work living at 1851- Caedram, 1861 - 17 Bridge St Merthyr 1881 - 10 Club Street Ystradydfodwg, died at 19 Ayton Terrace Llwynpia, I am fortunate to have a good selection of photogrphs of the people and places in my Oriel Archive, his will was probated at Llandaff 07 Mar 1894. I have a very large selection in my Pembrokeshire Oriel Document Archive which covers the early 1400's to approximately 1980.
Thomas Oriel the father of Thomas Oriel was the son of Thomas Oriel & Elizabeth Hanson (Possibly many and varied spellings), they had married at Kyffig
Thomas Oriel husband of Elizabeth Hanson was the son of James Oriel and Mary Howell.
The farm house of James Oriel still stands in Marros overlooking the beach.
All the above where mentioned in the long drawn out court case as to who had right of ownership of Garness circa 1800, the case being held at Hereford.
I believe I am now the only person to hold all the papers to the court case which dragged in a number of many different Oriel's. We are lucky that the court found in favour of Thomas Oriel who then became sole proprietor of Garnass. this then allowed that Garnass Farm remained in the Oriel Family for prior to the English Civil War to 1973.

Pembrokeshire / Re: John Griffiths born St.Issells(saundersfoot) 1814
« on: Sunday 28 September 14 08:35 BST (UK)  »
Richard Griffith married Elizabeth Griffith 1809 at St Issells. It is possible that Elizabeth was buried at St Issells having lived at Kingsmoor on the 9th January 1826.

I would suggest that George Phillips had married Mary Williams at Llangwm in 1786.
