re Nichols Raine
The photograph is certainly the ld church at Escomb bu it is quite possible tha the writing on the back is incorrect. They were probably maried there in 1845 but buy the time he died in 1898 were living in Elswick. He was a big Methodist and I have a copy of a eulogy from the Elswick Road Wesleyan Church so it is quite possible he was not in fact burried in Escombe. He wa a director of the Iron works at Witton Park and his sons went on to found Raine and Co iron and steel.
Thanks again
Graham
