Thanks jorose.  That's a useful piece of information.  Shame George's birth doesn't seem to be recorded as well!

If they emigrated via Canada which port would they have likely arrived at?

Regards,
Kevin.

Thanks,

United States of America / Rudducks in Michigan 1872 - 1877

I am looking for any information regarding Thomas Rudduck (my Gt Gt Grandfather) and his wife Lucy who emigrated to Michigan from Mells, Somerset in about 1872 but had returned to England by 1877. Whilst in Wayne, Michigan their sons George William (1873) and Harry Cecil (1874) were born.  If anyone has any information regarding their stay in the USA, the birth of their sons or can find any evidence of their emigration to/from the USA on passenger lists etc. I would be most grateful.

Yes, down to 2 then!  I know he survived the war despite being gassed, so there may be some hospital records somewhere?

The Medal Rolls would seem to narrow the search down to 3 service numbers: 14031, 20294 or 46863 but I can't find service records for any of these on Ancestry.  Is there anywhere else I could look?

His name was Thomas Evans (unfortunately a very common name to search for!).  He was born on 5th February 1898, so I estimate the photograph to have been taken about 1915/16, possibly just before he was sent to the Front.

Thanks all,

The Wiltshire Regiment would seem to fit in nicely as I know he originated from Swindon.  Just need to find his service number now!

Hi Phil,

I'm afraid the photograph isn't very clear.  The best I can do is attached.

Thanks!

Hi,

Can anyone provide any details on the regiment from the cap badge in this photograph?

Thanks.
