Just thinking that maybe I should get the birth certificate of the youngest child of Daphne and Gwilym.  Gwilym Meradith Hugo Perkins as it seems that he was born in Bedwelty, Monmothshire the others two children were born under cardiff registrations.  Maybe the Bedwelty address will bring up some more clues not sure how to go about ordering a birth certificate and how much it is!  My Grandmother Megan Eurian Perkins new very little about her mother, or so she said anyway, so have been running into lots of brick walls, my Grandmother always said she died in Childbirth, wonder why she would say that but my Grandmothers son said she went back to France (Alsace region) and my Grandmothers Nephew says she was from Marseille in France all very confusing!!

Sorry I took so long to reply, work etc , Carole I do not have his 2nd marriage certificate for Gwilym and Maud Partridge.
No Osprey I am not related to or in touch with the other poster.
Name of father on cert was George Jurie, no address for him just says he is deceased and was a Gamekeeper.  Says she is a spinster living at 50 Holton Road, Barry, I checked this address on census and it came up with quite a few people staying there in 1911, I thought it looked like lodgings or boarding house maybe!  The witnesses on the Cert are Lizzie Jones and Leah Lloyd and no occupation for Daphne just a dash.  Gwilym's occupation is Coal Trimmer and was living at 149 Gladstone Road, Barry.
Interesting about the Will being returned to him as I ordered his father's will Benjamin Perkins and he is not mentioned in the Will around that date just his wife, son and the 3 Grandchildren (Gwilyms children) but no mention of Daphne!!!! ???

Can anybody help out with my maternal great grandmother Daphne Jurie she married Gwilym Meradith Perkins in 1911 in Cardiff.  Had 3 children then cannot find any trace of her after the marriage date and Gwilym was remarried by 1923, always told she had gone back to live in France.  When Daphne registered her children the Jurie on her marriage cert was spelled differently Jury, Juris, I found the address she put on the marriage cert to be in Gladstone Road in Barry and it came up as a boarding house on the census.   ??? ???

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / John Thomas
« on: Thursday 18 November 10 07:15 GMT (UK)  »
This seems to be tricky for me to find my paternal GGF John Thomas and his first wife maybe Mary GGM.  Their son was named George born Town Hill, Swansea in 15 September 1901 and he had a sister possibly called Annie (apparently migrated to Canada).    GGF John Thomas worked until he was 80 in the mines of Wales and received a Octogenarian award, which I have the paper cutting in The Express, Saturday Dec 19 1953.  It was taken at the workmens Hall at Ystrad Mynach.  In 1953 he was living in Brynheulog, Penbryn.  He was married 3 times 1st Wife my GGM ? 2nd  Wife Evelyn Amelia Wedlake b. 1866, m. 1907 d. 1926. 3rd Wife ? Its was Evelyn's 2nd marriage so her name was Barrett when she married my GGF John Thomas.  If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated. Poppy Turnip

Just to add a bit more on it says in one of the paper cuttings that John Thomas is a native of Dinas Rhondda and the son of a miner starting working as a colliers help at age of 12 yrs near Porth.  Before going to Penallta, he also worked at Bargoed and Groesfaen Collieries.  Also says in the article that has lived in the Rhymney Valley over 30 years. Hope this helps too.
