Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Look up request Mary Jones death certificate
« on: Tuesday 22 May 12 14:36 BST (UK)  »
My great-grand mother Mary Jones was married to John Jones of Pendyffryn Farm, Penmaenmawr. She was born 28/02/1859 and died March 2/03/1902.  I would like to know cause of death, as she died relatively young. She was born in Llan Farm Eglwysbach and buried at Eglwysbach Churchyard with her father William Kyffin Jones. Does anyone know this family?

I would really like to be able to have a look at you Kyffin family tree, as this is also my area of research. I will be able to read it as an FTM file.

The caravan park is called Pendyffryn Caravan Park and is still there, close to the A55 (which wasn't built then.) It is in a place called Dwygyfylchi, next to Penmaenmawr. The mountain you climbed to get over to Conwy is called Alltwen.

Thanks for the information - Mary, Owen and Jane are all family names so the likelihood is the people listed are linked and may be part of the missing link!!

Hello Kyffin
Thanks for your interest in my quest. I have a Kyffin Maenan family tree which my father obtained from the University of Wales Bangor in the 60s,  It shows William Kyffin had an natural son Thomas, by Mary Davies which is clearly the information you have on your Kyffin family tree. This one goes back to 1230. My father was insistant that our link was through this union but the research he did was lost. Thomas and Mary had a son called George Kyffin who went to St John's College, Cambridge and was Rector of Llandddoget and Vicar at Eglwysbach.  Unfortunately, the chart I have then follows Richard Kyffin not George. I need to find out if George had any children and work my way to us that way. The family tree you mentioned sounds really interesting and I would appreciate if you could send me a copy. Today I ordered a copy of the death certificate of Williams Kyffin Jones father of Evan - perhaps something will come of that!!

I probably know who you mean and he/she will know my family as I grew up in Dwygyfylchi and my brother still lives there.

From emails I have received from painted lady, she has reached the conclusion that the Robert Jones she was looking for is not the Pont Weirglodd one. I am convinced that he, (Robert Jones b1854 d 1929) is the brother of my great grandmother Mary Jones b1859 in Eglwysbach, who married John Jones and farmed at Pendyffryn Farm in Dwygyfylchi. Robert Jones's only daughter was Catherine Ellen who was my father's aunty. There is a family with thesurname Sloane living in Dwygyfylchi.
