Sorry for lateness in this reply

Thank you everyone for your hard work,
I am against a Brickwall looking for George Garnet/t born 1860/61 my GGrandfather's birth and therefore our Ancestors ( my man is NOT George FW Garnett born 1861 Braidwood died 1924) my George died 1924 and has recorded on his oldest child and youngest child birth Certificate that he was born in Parramatta - therefore I believe he must of live in Parramatta at sometime in his early years and he must of had at least a mother here in Australia, His Marriage and Death Certificates are incomplete and are of no help so unfortunately going backwards I know nothing else - I am at the stage of trying to elimate any other possibilities.

Thank you VERY VERY Much for your dedication in helping other like myself  :)

Regards
Susan

Thank everyone for your help.
Yes I am hoping that Thomas (Tom) and my GGFather George were brothers, they both married under Garnet (1xT) and their both changed their surname to Garnett (2xT) used on the birth registrations of their children in NSW BDM.

My George was married in a Presbyterian Church, I have contacted the United Church Arcives and have been told they have no record of George's marriage - I want know which Church Thomas(Tom) was married in until I get a copy of the Marriage cert. - Unfortunately this still may not be able to confirm a link - would love to make contact with Thomas and Mary's descendants they may have family history.

I may have to look at Henry & Caroline after Thomas ( as I am hoping Thomas is my link)

And for Thomas from Heidelberg may be this Thomas I guess the MC with give me an age to work with.

I would guess that Tom Garnett the Bricklayer is Thomas who I am looking for.

I live in Caboolture QLD - 1 hr north of Brisbane.
Thanks Again
Susan

I have George & Louisa's Marriage Certificate NSW BDM Rego # 1889/005330.
no mention of Birthplace, nor parents names for either the of them - I contacted the United Church Archives (married as Presbyterian) and they advised that they have no records and I could contact the NSW state Archives ( yet to do this)
My George was a miner usual place of residence Toppers mountain. He Died 1914
We have nearly everything after their marriage, Details on Louisa's ancestors BUT nothing on his Birth - from a few of their children's birth certificates I calculate he was born between OCT 1860 and Jan 1861, he was the informant and stated he was born in Parramatta.

I am looking for details about his parents or siblings of George -
* My George Died in 1914 only Fathers Name was George but we doubt this as Informant was his oldest son named George and his father in-law was also a George - may be a mistake in time of grief.
* George FW Garnett born 1861 is not my George - Death certificates confirm this as George FW was not married with no children and died 1924)

Unfortunately http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,434575.msg2988194.html#msg2988194 was a brick wall for me as I ordered the Death Certificate for Margaret and unfortunately she did not have a child call George - therefore for me this tread is from a different line.
I will give Ros link a shot.
Thank you

Australia / Thomas GARNET & Mary PROCTOR Married 1884
« on: Tuesday 08 May 12 13:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
In my quest to find the birth of my GGFather George Garnet, I would like to see if anyone has any info. on Thomas Garnet and Mary Proctor married 1884.

- This may be no connection for me but as you can see for the below highlighted cut out from NSW BDM there are 2 entries Thomas and George both with the surname Garnet spelt with 1x T and both married within 5 years of each other.
- Thomas was married in Woollahra (sydney NSW) and my GGFather George was said to be born in Parramatta (sydney NSW).
I would like to make contact with someone that may have info. abt Thomas and Mary so if they are not connected I can cross them of my list.
* neither birth of Thomas or George are recorded under NSW BDM only their marriages.

3046/1884  GARNET  THOMAS  PROCTOR  MARY A  WOOLLAHRA
5330/1889  GARNET  GEORGE  HILL  LOUISA  INVERELL  (this George is my GGFather)

Thank you in advance for your time

Thanks everyone, I ancestor is actually know as George Garnett born abt 1861 but as we have come up against a Brick wall with him and the name Garrick and Garrnett can sometimes be confused I thought  - I would test the waters for the George Garrick just in case NSW BDM got it wrong - but looks like this time they have it right - once again I am at a brick wall - thank you all very much for the effort put in
Happy hunting
