Occupation Interests / Spirit merchant 1861 Govan, Glasgow
« on: Friday 13 November 09 01:08 GMT (UK)  »
In 1861 census, James CRAIG age 46 is listed as a "Spirit merchant", living at 155 Dumbarton Rd, Partick, Govan, Lanarkshire (in an earlier census was a shipwright) What exactly did a "spirit merchant" do - make it, sell it, work in a pub?

I would appreciate an MI for a burial in Lanarkshire - perhaps Parick/Govan - of a Christian or Christina CRAIG born around 1816-1818 who died between 1851 and Aug 1854? She was married to James Craig on 21 Sept 1835 in Govan

« on: Sunday 11 October 09 05:12 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone assist with a lookup of an MI for a burial in Lanarkshire - perhaps Parick/Govan - of a Christian or Christina CRAIG (maiden name MILLAR) born around 1816-1818 who died between 1851 and Aug 1854?

This is her marriage:

James remarried by 1861 to Mary.

Thanks-I checked Scotlands People death record and yes, you were right, his parents named: William CRAIG and Isabella (Isabel) McINTOSH
Theres a 1854 death for CRAIG, CATHERINE (O.P.R. Deaths 646/00 0466 GOVAN) on 23 Dec in Partick aged 30; possible this is Christina?

Lanarkshire / James Craig Christina Millar details

James Craig (b approx 1815) married Christina Millar (b approx 1815) in Govan  on 21 Sept 1835. Does anyone have access to James' and/or Christina's parents? I have their children. It seems Christina died around 1854-55 - just after having James Craig Jnr or Jessie Craig her daughter?
Would appreciate a start on their lineage before 1835.
thankyou

Thankyou so much for that - that's a great start (excuse my typo in my post - I meant "Christina" not Cecilia Millar.)
