Essex / Parents of Rebecca Smith
« on: Saturday 10 May 25 18:04 BST (UK)  »
Rebecca Smith is Great Grandmother of my Husband. She was born in 1821 in Saffron Walden married to Henry Wedlock in 1848. Again I had carried on with one person that appeared as her Father but then when a comment came up on Ancestry about this person, I looked again and realised that all the information for Rebecca was under Coggershall and not Saffron Walden, so had to remove all existing details for her except her marriage and children with Henry. So I think her Parents are James 1800 and Sarah but not sure as nothing much comes up for her now so any help greatly received.

Devon / Parents of Ann Doidge
« on: Saturday 10 May 25 17:57 BST (UK)  »
Ann Doidge b1837 Tiverton Devon is my Great Grandmother but I have mixed information about her parents. I have been going along happily with William and Maria Blatchford but now see on another version of her marriage that her father is John...and the 1851 census states Ann as her mother but not sure if that Ann is MY Ann...so confusing so any help greatly received..
She married Richard Henry Pearce in 1861 in Tavistock. I cannot remember where I got William and Maria but it fits...
Thanks

Thanks everyone...forgot you cannot help with possible still living people, so will remove all once I have done this.
Do not think Percy married twice so unless J was his first wifes child but we think her mum was definitely Florence Reeve and no her name is not J***e. I will have another look on the 1939 census although thought I had looked everywhere for her...anyway thanks again.

Bedfordshire / Re: sarah A Wiles (1846)

Thanks Carole and Trish

When Carold said that Sarahs Mother was a Morris, I thought well I have been through the 3 siblings..Palatiah (who I thought was female according to census anyway) but she died as a Morris, Asa died young too and so did Naomi. But i did not know there was another Naomi, I was not aware of her...so that was interesting. Does that mean that the 2nd Naomi married a Mr Wiles to have Sarah? At least I have more info now, so thanks alot...I took Sarahs date from 1881 census and although I always look at all census to get a round about date, it is sometimes only the death that gives the definitive. And of course I only have GR and Ancestry to work with...Thanks again.

Essex / Joy Stock
« on: Saturday 06 March 21 23:02 GMT (UK)  »
My husbands Mothers side came from Great Dunmow in Essex.
I have found most of the children of Percy Valentine STOCK (1895-1976) and Florence Ellen REEVE (1902-1981)=David, Marina, William and Patrick but we know that Florence also had a child called Joy (about 1930)  but we are not sure if she was Percys child. (Florence and Percy married in 1931) I have tried to find her birth and also we know Joy married but cannot find a marriage either so if any one can find out anything about her,it would be great, thanks. It is just that my husbands mum remembers her well but I have not been able to put her on the tree yet...

Bedfordshire / sarah A Wiles (1826)
« on: Friday 05 March 21 21:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi its me again and hopefully this time I will not take you on a wild goose chase like I did with the Paynes.
This Sarah shows up on the 1881 census with her "Uncle" Pharez Swaile Morris (1886-1809)(he is MY 3rd Great Grandfather) but although she is transcribed as "servant", it clearly reads NIECE. The thing is I cannot find her parents at all as I only have 3 siblings for Pharez and the girls I think did not marry. Sarah was born in 1826 in St Neots according to that census and she is with her 3 children Ada Ellen 1870 William Bonnett 1874 and Arthur Henry 1877. She is noted as S for single. In the 1891 census she is there again in her own place with the children plus another Frederick A 1882. I have tried every combination of names and on Williams marriage it does say HIS father is William Bonnett Wiles too but there is no marriage between A William Wiles and a Sarah. On one of the childrens birth record, it states Wiles as his mothers maiden name. Not sure where she fits in at all though with my Morrises...any help please

Bedfordshire / Re: George Payne 1811-1875
« on: Sunday 14 June 20 18:35 BST (UK)  »
Thanks everyone but I am not sure where I first got Mary Seabrook as the wife of George because I have now back-tracked and cannot see her at all and so must be Mary Dear.
I knew on the census where they come from but mainly its because all my original work was done on Genes Reunited and I didn't have the full package but I was convinced of my working then. I had also been to Bedford Records office at the time but that was a while back. I then joined Ancestry this year mainly to do my DNA but of course I set a tree up for both mine and my husbands lineage.
This where Mary Dear first shows up...and of course I don't just take the word of it and so looked through all the information on there and what I had but got more and more confused.

But now I have checked Seabrook and like you say there isn't a marriage or anything although their ages work better with George. I only had him on my original tree, Ancestry gave me the other siblings.
Mary seemed too old to have had George, she would be about 57 (born 1753) and Richard born 1768 but that also varies between 1763-1768 I think but would need to check that

Anyway thanks but I think I have put you all on a wild goose chase and I apologise.
