Thomas Keany was born about 1780.On Griffith's Valuation he resided in Mayo, Touaghty, Ballynaglea. He was a mason and had a farm of 18 acres. He died May 14, 1866 at the age of 86. Besides John Keaney 1856-1937, he had Eleanor Keaney 1829-1887 who married Michael Hession on Oct. 19 1856. They had five children: Patrick Hession 1859-1934; John Hession 1865-1931; Julia Hession 1867- Unknown death date; Mary Hession 1869-1935 and James J Hession (Hesson inUS) 1871-1955. James emigrated to the US Winnie Ruth
