Hi Christopher

Just read your post today. My G-Grandfather, Alexander William Craig was born at Curragh Camp July 17th., 1870. His father was Thomas H. Craig, Mother Sarah Munroe Craig. Thomas and Sarah had 3 children, Sarah Born 1868 in Gunhill, Barbados, West Indies, Alexander Born 1870, Curragh Camp and Fannie Born Westville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Would there be any records at Curragh Camp stating where or when Thomas Craig was born and who his parents were.  Thomas is listed as Sgt. 2/16 Regt. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ann

Thanks for the info. I will start looking again.
It seems you can get so far and then you hit a brick wall, and then the least little bit of information will get you going again. Will let you know how I make out.

Thanks again

Hi Jean

Just reread your reply and noticed there are Craigs in your family.

My great great grandfather was Thomas Craig, born in Ireland in 1839. I have a copy of a letter stating he was a sergeant 2/16 Reg. This letter was written at his request when he left the Army, dated Aug. 23, 1873 at Aldershot, North Curragh, Ireland.  We are not sure if this was the year he came to Canada or not. He had a son Alexander W., born July 27, 1870 and Baptized July 31, 1870, signed by H. Whinny, Chaplain of the forces. Any possible connection.

I think Peter and Elizabeth had another son, Alexander. I have not been able to find any other children.  My e-mail address is <email address removed to prevent misuse, [please use PM facility: moderator> Thanks for any information you may give me. :)
