Yes, William Patterson was my gg grandfather.  His dob was reported as 1799 but that has yet to be confirmed. No info available on place of birth or parents names.    Unfortunately, he emigrated to Canada in the early 1820's and settled in Eastern Ontario.  He married a girl (Margaret Barriger) in Canada around 1828 and they had 11 children, one of which was named Lucy.  Other names were Margaret, Gordon, Alexander, Charlotte, Sophia, John, William, Walter, James, Richard, and Elizabeth. Oldest son was named "William Francis" and second daughter was called "Charlotte Isabella" which may be useful in determining the most likely names of parents.

If any of this rings bells for you, please let me know.  Also would be greatful for any info you can share on your Canadian connections in case I can identify a link to other Patterson's in my area.

Gerry

Are you sure that William emigrated to Canada in 1847? Is it possible that he went in the 1820's and Lucy followed later?  If so, do you know where he settled in Canada?
