Galway / Jones family from Tuam
« on: Monday 12 October 09 09:52 BST (UK)  »
My greatgrandfather Matthew Jones lived in Tuam  and married Bridget Newell in the late 1850's or early 1860's. All the children left Tuam for England and America. The parents remained and died in Tuam.
Does anyone else have any interest in this family and have further details on relatives in Tuam?

I have been trying to trace the marriage of Robert Dickenson (Dickinson) and Margaret Hall around 1819. Their first five children were born in Handsworth Sheffield from 1820 and later from 1830 in Fiskerton. Margaret Hall was born in Masborough near Rotherham.

Hi everyone and thank you for the interest

Firstly, the marriage certificate of 1843 states that Richard Wheeler was a potter.
The details regarding the Holden family help to confirm the family since one of the witnesses on the certificate was Susanna Holden the sister of Mary.
Secondly, the 1851 census verifies a number of issues and Maria Rowley was Maria Wheeler who married Thomas Rowley in 1814 (igi) and Richard being listed her father. This points towards the marriage of Richard Wheeler and Mary Thorne in 1792 in Bobbington being the possible parents of George.

I have just searched the igi tapes C040273 - C040276 and using the surname Wheeler constructed the two generations of families(assuming the link is correct).

In 1844 George Edward Holden Wheeler was born (igi) this is constructed from the christian and surnames of the parents and the tradition continued for six generations.

I have greater confidence that George and Phoebe are the parents since both generations are in Old Swinfrod.

I have traced my family back to the marriage of Richard Wheeler and Mary Holden on 23 April 1843 in Amblecote. I also have further links beyond this date however I need to confirm that George Wheeler and Phoebe Mogg were the parents of Richard. Can anyone help.

Hi duffysalmon

I have carried out research for a very close friend of mine who is a descendant of Agnes Salmon sister of Cornelious and daughter of John Salmon. I will arrange for him to join the site and he will be in contact over the next few days.

Regards

Christopher Patrick Salmon from Bray is listed on the Calstock Cornwall 1901 census together with his family however in 1911 his family are in Stockton Durham. Did he stay there or return to Bray.
