World War One / Perkins, W WWI Lookup pretty please
« on: Tuesday 22 November 11 10:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, my family has always believed that Walter Perkins (details below) was kicked to death by his horse. It was also believed it was at the end of the war. Having done some research I have discovered he died on New Year's Eve 1915, but have no more details.
Could somebody either show me how to find how he died, or, even better, find the info. It would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks, and thanks again

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Help? Disappearance?
« on: Friday 26 October 07 21:56 BST (UK)  »
My partner says...
her great grand-father was William Parker De Morley Mynn, her grandfather was Charles William De Mynn, born in Nottingham. She understood that he had left his wife and had a son in later in Nottingham, without first getting divorced.
She will try to find out further details from her mother (who may post on here, once she sees the link).

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Help req.
« on: Tuesday 20 December 05 23:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have been having trouble locating some of my maternal family. I know...
George Kitson got married on 1/1/1913 (or it may be 1915, the copy i have isn't clear) to Elizabeth Perkins (in Sheffield). He was aged 28, giving him a birth year of 1885 (or 1883) reference is vol 9c, page 655, which states 1913 (but it does look like 1915)

His father was William Henry Kitson, a file cutter (I think). I can't find anything else on them though.
Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I have looked on the 1901 census but can find nothing relevent

 ???
I am doing a bit of family research (hence me being on this site), and I am confused!
My great-grandad (George Horace Kitson, b 1880) had a sister Minnie, who I have found on the 1881 census (via the mormons site).
She was 2, a search on free BMD reveals she was born in December 1878,
Surname  First name(s)    District  Vol  Page

~~~~~~~~
Births Dec 1878
~~~~~~~~

Kitson  Minnie     Sheffield  9c 432

but the mormons site reveals...
International Genealogical Index - British Isles
 2. Minnie Kitson - International Genealogical Index / BI
Gender: Female Christening: 24 SEP 1878 Sheffield, York, Yorkshire, England
which is before her birth. Which is likely to be true?

Any other help re Kitson would be greatly appreciated, this is from the mormons site

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: help me please, 1851/61/ info
« on: Saturday 08 January 05 00:57 GMT (UK)  »
A freind has helped me with this a bit. His age of 57, is probably 51 which ties in with Heathers info above,

Marriages Jun 1877
Christian  Sarah Ann    Nottingham  7b 448
FISHER  Thomas     Nottingham  7b 448
SHELLEY  John     Nottingham  7b 448
(from free BMD I think)

and  John born 1850 (give or take 6 months) married Annie who was born in Nottm around 1853/4.
their kids:-
William born 1878 in Nottm
George born 1879/80 Nottm
Sarah A(probably Annie) born 1880/1 Derby
Rose born 1888 Derby
Nelly born 1890 Sheffield
Joseph born 1892 Sheffield

It would appear that Sarah Ann IS Annie - well done Heather  :). I am getting less confused as time goes on.

I would still like to find more about John's background, but I (we) are/am getting there!

The 1901 details are from the Sheffield Census (Hallam/nether Hallam). The posts above don't tie in with the dtaes I have (John Shelley would have been born in 1844 or 1845, somewhere in Nottingham. Annie Shelley in 1851/1852, also in Nottingham.
I am getting more and more confused.

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / help me please, 1851/61/ info
« on: Friday 07 January 05 01:19 GMT (UK)  »
Could anyone help me. I have located my great great grandad (I think) on the 1901 Census, living in Sheffield...

John Shelley 57 mechanical enjineer (sic) notts, Nottinghamshire
Annie Shelley 48.......................................Notts, Nottinghamshire
Annie Shelley 20 .......................................Derby, Derbyshire
Rose Shelley  13......................................Derby, Derbyshire
Nelly (?) Shelley 11...................................Yorks, Sheffield
Joseph Shelley 9........................................Yorks, Sheffield (my great granddad)

I can see that they must have lived in Derby in between 1881 and 1888 (at least) and moved to Sheffield at some time but cannot find out any more. I would like to find out about John when he was born in Nottingham, but have no idea where to go next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
