Fife / Re: Headstone Inscriptions LOCHGELLY CEMETERY
« on: Saturday 27 August 11 16:14 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in any Fordyce inscriptions particually of Henry Fordyce and wife Euphemia Isabella Fordyce (nee Robertson) who may be buried at Lochgelly. Euphemia was the daughter of William Robertson and Janet (nee Morrison), She and Henry married in 1913 and had 2 daughters Janet Morrison Fordyce born 1915 and Margaret Millar Fordyce born 1917.

Looking for information on John Hudson (1817-1872) and his wife Maria (1818-1874) were born in Sligo Irelend and came to London sometime between 1840 and 1844 where John was listed as a police constable on the 1851 census.  Two of John and Maria's children married into the Wittich and Philbrick famillies.

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Conrad Wittich (1808-1889)

Looking for information on Conrad Wittich born 1808 Franfurt upon Maine who came to Stepney some time before 1837. He was a baker and related to other German baker families in London including the Heils and Denhards. By his 2 marriages he had at least 16 children.  I have most of the census information already but would like to know if Conrad was related to any of the eighteeenth and early nineteenth century Wittichs who were already in London.

RICHARD FOWLER and ELIZABETH JAMES
Marriage:  23 APR 1778   Aston Juxta Birmingham, Warwick
Children baptised in Aston - Mary 1779, Elizabeth 1780, Richard 1791, William 1795 and Ann 1799

This couple are ancestors of one of my sons-in-law through William Fowler (who I have born in 1784 rather than 1795) and his wife Hannah Powell of Dudley (1795-1878). I am aware of the extensive records in Birmingham but do not live in the area to access them so would appreciate any further information on this Fowler family that anybody has.

The Ann Fowler bn 1799 married Dr George Bodington (1799-1882), a member of the extensive Bodington family of Cubbington and Kenilworth and on whom there is much information on the internet. Ann and George were the ancestors of the lawyer Oliver Eaton Bodington (1859-1942) and of the possible double agent Nicholas Redner Bodington (1904-1974).

William Fowler and Hannah nee Powell's eldest son William Fowler Junior (1818-1887), a land surveyor, married another member of the Bodington family, Sarah Hannah Bodington (1823-1900).

There's also a Dunbarton in South Africa and from this rootsweb email evidence that there were Trotts in SA at the beginning of the 20th century including a James Harrington Trott  (Danvers father). Maybe Danvers studied in Dunbarton SA (not Scotland) before returning to India.

Subject: [TROTT] Early Trott names in South Africa.
Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 17:08:08 +0200

The South African Archives have just come on-line, wonderful for all genealogists with a South African or two in their Tree. We always thought we were pretty much the first Trott family here, but to our surprise we have found:

JAMES HARINGTON TROTT applying for an appointment in 1893.

TROTT BROTHERS in various legal cases in 1901 and 1904.

ROBERT TROTT taking out a mortgage in 1902.

J. TROTT, a Constable, being transferred in 1903.

H. RIX-TROTT an Acting District Inspector of Public Works in 1904.

CHARLES ALBERT TROTT and ROBERT TROTT with a mortgage bond in 1904.

More about H. RIX-TROTT in 1904.

J. TROTT resigning (Constable) 1905.

CHARLES ALBERT TROTT v. ROBERT TROTT 1905.

W.C. TROTT applying for an appointment in the Cape Mounted Rifles, 1907.

Correspondence with R. TROTT on stock diseases 1911.

Liquidation and Distribution of SARAH BRADSHAW, born TROTT 1911.

Immigration papers PE TROTT and CHILDREN 1949.

If any of you recognize any of these names, the url is http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300cd?OFDD4884

Go well! Ivy Trott in Clovelly, near Cape Town, South Africa.

This is an entry from the British Library India Office website showing that Danvers Harrington Trott's father James Harrington Trott was a 36 year old widower when he married his 19 year old 2nd wife Blanche Louisa Gomez in 1891.

James Harrington Trott was born therefore about 1855 and that would make it highly likely that he was a younger child of James Henry Trott and Margaret Harington who married in 1841.

Familysearch has a James Trott bp in 1815 son of a Robert Trott.

My own interest is in the Har(r)ington surname which is how I came  upon your enties.

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 Lutwyche help please
« on: Sunday 29 March 09 16:17 BST (UK)  »
Do you know anything about the relationshoip of the Lutwyche family to the Greens ? I have Charles Thomas Lutwyche (bn 1798) married to Elizabeth Green (bn 1796). Elizabeth seems to be the daughter of a Richard and Elizabeth Green and sister of Charles Green. Is this correct?

Tanya

There are 2 William Bates about the same age both born in Marsworth. William Bates son of Charles Bates and his 1st wife Maria nee Coshier and William Bates son of Newman Bates and Mary nee Oakley. The second William is the uncle of Henry John Bates born 1853.

Newman Bates born 1809, bp 1815 is the cousin of our ancester Thomas Bates who married Elizabeth Cartwright in 1839.

The name Newman Bates seems fairly common in Bucks. I have been looking for a Bates/Newman marriage in the early 1700's probably in the Drayton Parslow area from where I suspect the name originates.

I can email you my updated Bates tree Tanya. I know we've exchanged information before but I have lost your personal email address.

There is a John Lord bp 1775 at Slimbridge son of James Lord and his 1st wife Elizabeth Bendal who married at Slimbridge in 1769.

I haven't been able to establish whether this James Lord is the the one bp in North Nibley 1739 (son of Nathaniel Lord and his 2nd wife Sarah Jones)  or the James Lord bp 1744 at Uley.
