Hi all,

Victor: Oh well.  Thanks so much for trying.  Much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Hi David, the one from S&N (genealogysupplies) is a copy of the actual census images rather than a transcript.  I am looking for a transcript/index so I can find information quickly  ;)

Hi Victor, I went to the Gloucester FHS site and shop but could not find it listed.  Is it perhaps out of stock?

Northamptonshire / Northamptonshire 1851 Census CD-ROM Wanted
« on: Friday 28 August 15 10:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Although the censuses are indexed online (e.g. findmypast or ancestry),
the quality of transcription tends to be inferior to the indexes produced
by local family history societies.

Unfortunately the CD ROM produced by the Northamptonshire FHS
is no longer available (I recently contacted them).

Does anyone have a copy they are willing to sell?

I am trying to build up a collection of 1851 census indexes compiled by
family history societies for the whole of England & Wales (and perhaps
Scotland).  I already have quite a few.

Many thanks indeed.

Regards
James

The versions produced by family history societies (FHS)
tend to be far more accurately transcribed than
the online versions.

The FHS versions were made by volunteers themselves
genealogists whereas the online ones are outsourced
commercially.

I have contacted them but they no longer sell it.

Hi!

I am a descendant of Jeremiah Chamberlain who was died in North Cadbury in 1820 aged 39.  There was a younger Jeremiah chamberlain in the village at that time as well.

I was wondering if you have any information about his ancestry.

Many thanks.

Regards
James (Ashforth)
