They are all believed to have been in the Speen /Princes Risborough / Hughenden area.
Elizabeth HAWKES certainly married my G,G,G,father William Ridgley & produced Jesse R.
(BTW Ridgleys were pretty free with there name spelling - no pun intended!)
It would appear Jesse Ridgley bcame RidgERley when he was sentenced to 7 years Deportation in 1845.
I believe, but can't verify, that the Will & Mary marriage was Sept. 1814 & that Daniel was born c1816.
In the 1841 Census, living in the immediate vicinity of William &Mary, possibly at the same address, was a Daniel Ridgley with his wife Rebekah & a son with forename FREE.
This was in Speen in the parish of Princes Risborough. Jesse appeared to be lodging nearby.
The 1851 shows them to still be in Speen,Princes Risborough together with a Grandson with forename FREE.
No sign of Daniel & Jesse was touring the Colonies at Q Vics. expense, albeit in irons!
Although these facts would appear to support the "Mary Free" assumptions, they are obviously not conclusive.
As to the George & Sarah parentage I've only managed to find an Absolam & George Ridgley as their sons,
However Absalom was also nearby in '41 but in '51 altho' still in Speen, a bit further away
I hope I've not swamped you with semi-relevant material but I think you can see how tantalisingly close it all is!
Thanks for your interest,
Regards,Peter
Oops - I've just seen I've had two more responses while I've been doing the above! I'll still send it off - hope you don't mind. Pete
