Thanks Jane,
I appreciate your finding time to send me the file. It looks like it confirms one or two things I had suspected from my research and gives me further possibilities. It is certainly very confusing when there are so many James Brabys, but who am I to complain about that!

Hi Jane,
I am still working through your information, but further details on the Rudgwick side would be gratefully received. Thanks for the link to the village site.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for the prompt response.  You have given me some useful stuff to look through. I am sure that you are right that my grandfather's information is unreliable, I understand that he was very much inclined to a romanticised view of his ancestors rather than facts. Anyway, I suppose if he had been better on facts I would not have the fun of  searching the internet. If I come across anything that I think will be of interest to you I will be back.
Thanks
Jarby

Hi,
The Braby/Bravery thread seems to have long gone cold.
Unfortuneately I have only just discovered it. Interestingly for me it appears that Rebecca (Fosbeck) is a not too distant relative of mine.
I have recently started some investigations into the origins of my family, as yet  I have got no further than online searches, but  I have reached a similar point to the start of this thread.
James Braby and Emily Augusta Smith of Brighton are my G Grandparents.
I too believe that James' father William has a connection with Amberley and Rudgwick but so far I am unable to prove it. My grandfather had always claimed that  his father James was related to James "squire" of Rudgwick.
I have been trying to find the connection between James Braby of Maybanks  Rudgwick and James Braby of Brighton. Is anyone in a position to help.
