Hi Jenn

The place of marriage is simply stated as Molong.
Married in the: is blank
According to: rites of the Church of England.

There is very little detail in the cert. and appears to be written by John Smith a witness (landowner of Molong) all other parties signed with a cross which all appear the same. The only thing written in a different hand is the signature of the minister.

Hi

I'm interested in marriage that  took place at Molong which is between Orange and Parkes (known as Currajong and Bushmans until it took on the name of Parkes after Sir Henry Parkes visited the area)
Early squatters has a selection Burrawang that went from west of Parkes towards Condoblin. The Hamlet of Bogan Gate.was on the eastern entry to the property. I have just checked in book "Gateway to the Bogan" and found a reference to  John Smith who lived at Gamboola, Molong buying Burrawang Station in 1846.
The Bogan River starts north of Bogan Gate.
Interested in Joseph Nicholson(Nichols)(Stock keeper) married Anne (Eleanor, Hannah) Grady 1865
John Smith and his Wife witnessed the Marriage and the certificate appears to be in the hand of John Smith with all party signing with a cross that all look the same the only signatures being John Smith and G.A.C. Innes Officiating Minister.

Steve

Hi Daizi

Yes that is the one that is not my Joseph.
I've found him in NSW Police Gazzette for stealing cattle but just can't find his parents other than his father is William. I've tried Nicholls, Nichols, Nicholson, Nicolson, Nickols, Nickolls, Nickolson, Michols, Micholls, Micholson.

I've got a list of 36 William Nicholsons  that died between 1840 and 1920 and so eliminated 8 through age at time of death or ordering death Cert of those in the local area of Forbes and Orange NSW.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Daizi
I did find the birth of a Joseph Nicholson in the NSW BDM for 1844 which is actually a Baptism. It shows  the ceremony was performed in Parish of  St. James, Melbourne. Father is given as William Nicholson, Seaman and Mother Sarah. After this I found that this family continued to live in Melbourne and that this Joseph died at an early age. So this can't be the correct family.
No other births of a Joseph Nicholson appear to be registered in NSW around 1844.

Hope this resolves your confusion.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi
I'm trying to find the location Currawong or Currawang, Bogan River NSW 1865.
This is noted as the residence of a couple on their Marriage Certificate.
They may have been in the employ of  a John Smith at the time 1865.

Hi I've hit a wall with my Great Grandfather. I have his death Certificate giving his father as William and age as 77 place of birth as Orange NSW. The birth of one of his sons Anthony Patrick NICHOLSON 1885 gives Joseph's  age 42 but birth place Forbes NSW.
A search of NSW BDM gives a Joseph Nicholson son of William and Sarah Nicholson in 1844 but in Melbourne VIC. I have been able to eliminate this record as this Joseph Died as a young adult in Melbourne.
The Marriage Certificate for the marriage  to Elenora Grady in 1865 near Orange is of dubious quality as the name recorded is Nicholls and all the witnesses signed with there mark and they all look the same plus there are no details of birth or parent for both parties.
The certificate may have been completed some time after the event if indeed it took place at all.
I have checked the death certificates of William Nicholson around the Forbes area from 1840 to 1900 but still can't find one that might give me a clue.

Trish and Sheila
Just discovered parents of my GG Grandfather William was the son of James Blackstock and Margaret Moffat. William emigrated to Tasmania in 1857 aged 21. Married Rosina Kelvie  1859. Rosina was born 1838 in Glasgow.
I have quite a bit of information on the Australian descendants of William Blackstock.
I just need to digest you previous posts
Kindest regards
