Lincolnshire / Re: Decendants of Hind Family Brigg/Broughton

Dear Billy,
Much thanks for responding to my inquiry. I imagine the Hind family that you are referring to is related to my ancestor family - the first names in the tree are all very similar. From the family tree that you posted I can't see a direct link - but I imagine that my ancestor - James Hind (1720 - 1789 in my tree) was a brother of William Hind (1721 - 1795 - in your tree).

I am delighted if there are still members of the Hind family in Broughton. We visited from Australia in 2010 but did not meet any Hind family members.

Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks West - have had a look at the site you provided and have had no luck finding James Pollard either.

I think a death certificate is looking like the next step.

Thanks very much for your help - Michelle

Thank for you help Migky and Gibel. I have used to website for Lancashire Constabulary to request information about James' service with the Lancashire Constabulary - so this has been a terrific lead.    :)

It is wonderful what is possible from the other side of the world.

Much thanks

Michelle

Thanks for your help everyone - I am still wondering at the cause of death - perhaps I will need to order a death certificate.

James' family (his wife Hannah Maria Walton and sons Harry and Charles Pollards) lived in Burnley which explains the place of burial. I'll keep searching for more information about his death.

Much thanks - Michelle

Hello - I am researching my great-great-grandfather - James Pollrd who was, at the time of his death in 1879, a Police Sergeant at the Whitworth Police Station. At the time of his death, he was actually residing at the police station. He was 43 years old when he died and I am trying to find out whether he died in connection to his occupation. James was born in 1836 in Burnley, Lancashire and died on the 18th July 1879. I would appreciate any information anyone can share. Much thanks.

I will post on the Lancashire board as you suggest - thanks so much for your help.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Francis Hind/s Marriage Brigg/Broughton 1800's
« on: Friday 09 October 09 03:12 BST (UK)  »
I am researching from Australia the family of my convict ancestor Thomas Hinds (baptised Wrawby 1810). I have the transcript of a letter Thomas wrote home to his brother Francis in Brigg in 1853.

In the letter Thomas enquires about Francis's son (also called) Thomas (18 months) and their sister Fanny.

I have details about the baptism of Fanny (Baptised Wrawby 1798) and Francis (Baptised Wrawby 1802) however I can find no further information about their marriages, offspring, deaths etc.

Surname is spelt either Hind or Hinds and it would be wonderful to discover more information about their lives. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Michelle D (nee Hinds)
