Family History Beginners Board / Re: Can not find birth of Robert HALL
« on: Thursday 18 March 04 11:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Jessie, not sure if this may be of any help but I´ve got a record of a Thomas Hall b. 1793 Aylsham Norfolk (Aylsham parish baptisms).
His parents were Jerry and Hannah (formerly Starling) . Aylsham is not too far from Beetley...... he could be the father of Robert. Worth checking further perhaps. Regards, Chris.

Hi louise, Try the Anglo-German family history society.
www.art-science.com/agfhs/
You can also find lots of interesting links regarding German immigrants.
I believe that the name you supplied (Plitsch)could be Prussian .
Regards, Chris.

Occupation Interests / Re:Barrister records
« on: Wednesday 17 March 04 09:25 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks K. I have tried local record sources but drawn a blank.
I think (vague memories of social history classes!)the answer may be the Law Lists or the inner temple but can´t find out how I can access the records (if indeed there are any) from abroad.
Chris. (in a very wet Barcelona)

On another note, I would be pleased to offer a free translation service to any forum members who might have Spanish/Catalan/French ancestors or need assistance searching the Spanish records system.

Occupation Interests / Barrister records
« on: Tuesday 16 March 04 09:13 GMT (UK)  »
How does one start to find Barrister records for London 1850´s?
I have a gt gt grandfather who according to his marriage cert and subsequently the birth cert of his son (my gt grandfather), was a "Barrister in practice".
I´m not sure if this means that he was practising to BE a Barrister or that he was practising AS a Barrister??
Any advice most welcome!
Chris.
