Midlothian / Re: Heriot/Herriot of Crichton or St. Cuthbert's Parish

I am still researching my Heriot/Herriot lineage but took a hiatus from this branch to persue other neglected lines.  I will check for all information requested from other posters in this thread and let  you know if there are any connections.  My Herriots settled in Wellington County, Ontario and some of their relatives settled in Guelph. I seem to recall a cousin/brother who went to Australia and I have quite a bit of information on that line as well.  If you want to reach me off list, I would be happy to help with your hunting if I can.  pcaldwell01@hotmail.com    ps. George and Elizabeth (Skinner) Herriot are on the tree somewhere... will have to revisit the tree/forest.

Leasha:
I, too, am a descendent of Margaret Ann Adgey and William Officer, from their son James Henry Officer who immigrated to Canada.  Would welcome your thoughts and willing to share information.  I had tried to contact another descendent in Australia a few years ago but emails bounced back.

Great!  That would explain why I couldn't locate any information.  Thanks so much for responding, everyone.  Again, if I can be of any assistance here in Ontario, Canada, please let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.

I have checked LDS and their pilot site...no luck.  In particular, Samuel Officer, born abt. 1775, son John born abt. 1795 married to Rose Ann McKeown.  Are there transcriptions for the Carnmoney Presbyterian Church cemetery?  I am willing to reimburse any expenses you may incur to locate records on the Officers.  Thanks so much for your kindness!!

Could some kind person please do a lookup for me in the cemetery records of the Carnmoney Presbyterian Church.  Looking for Officer family ancestors.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I can reciprocate with Simcoe County, Ontario Canada records if anyone needs help over here.  Thanks!!

Midlothian / Heriot/Herriot of Crichton or St. Cuthbert's Parish
« on: Wednesday 16 March 05 00:32 GMT (UK)  »
Searching for ancestors David Heriot/Herriot and Jean Cook(?) who married in St. Cuthbert's (1785-1790) but settled in Crichton and occasionally in Ormiston (East Lothian).  They had a son, David) who married Helen Donaldson in 1816 and had several children (David, William, James, Samuel, John, George, Robert, Margaret, Archibald Ainslie Herriot). Anyone out there have these names in their lines or know of anyone still living in these areas with the surname Herriot?  I would really appreciate your help!  Many thanks from Canada!!

My gr-gr-gr-gr grandparents' youngest child was named Archibald Ainslie Herriot.  I have been trying to find out where the Ainslie came from and have been assuming that he was named after a relative.  His parents were David Herriot/Heriot and Helen Donaldson.  If any of these names appear on your research documents, then perhaps we are linked through the Ainslie name???!!!??  Contact me, if so.  Thanks!
