Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Please help date and restore Bulls Head
« on: Wednesday 09 November 11 20:30 GMT (UK)  »
This is a picture of the main street in Bacup and you can just see the public house called the Bulls Head Inn on the right. My great great grandfather was the landlord from 1870 to his death in 1880.

Would it please be possible to date this image ?

I would really appreciate any improvement to this photo.

Best Wishes

Trish

Hello Irene

The short answer is that I do not know. It is through my ancestry research and a recent contact with newly discovered second cousins that I acquired the previous photos. The cousins are decedents of James Stevenson (who lost his arm in WW1) but unfortunately their father Alec (Jame's son) died young and no information was passed down and when James and his wife died all the photos were shipped abroad by his daughter Evelyn, who has now died.

I obtain this photo via the Bacup museum. Alan Stevenson (who is the son of Fred Stevenson, James brother and Stevano partner) sent the photo to them via email will further information. We now know that both brothers continued to practice and ran a boxing club in Bacup and that Fred's son Jack, after WW2 carried on the profession under the Stevano name as an acrobatic juggler. I have tried to contact Alan but the information was 5 years old and so far I have not received a response but the search for information continues...

Best Wishes

Trish  :)

Please could someone improve this picture of The Stevanos post WW1
As you can see the older brother James lost his right arm in WW1 but they were determined to carry on their music hall careers and this is them practising on the moors.
Some wonderful restores from their pre war career can be found on these threads
