thank you for that, what i am specifically looking for is after the war, as the person stayed untill at least 1950, so i had hoped that some sort of record would be kept somewhere, or were they just released and carried on as before whilst working on the farms, would they have had to register any where, with police or council,   was tax paid in those days,  i do have pictures of him in uniform i believe he was a paratrouper and i have pictures after the war,, also i need to find out if he was always at gaza camp or moved there after being held prisoner somewhere else in which case i have not a lot of chance of getting anywhere,  i know where is germany  he came from but its that illusive surname that holds me back. belleisa

Hi
i am trying to find out about German POW's that were held prisoner during ww11 but what information could be held about them after the war ended.
I know a lot did not return to germany but stayed and worked on farms after the war ended, i am looking specifically at Sevenoaks in kent and a pow camp called Gaza barracks in sevenoaks weald, and feel sure that any that stayed up untill the 1950's some records would be held, can any one give me help with this,
i have some information about a specific person and photograths too but no surname. :(
 many thanks belleisa
