Thank you both

Thankyou Heywood

I think this would make sense certainly for the 1881 and onwards Census.

Perhaps they were rebuilt at that time and renamed. It would coincide with all of the ironstone mining activity surge. The occupants also shift from 'agricultural labourer' to 'ironstone labourer (miner)' at that time.

Northamptonshire / Burton Lodge and Death/Daeth family of Burton Latimer 19th Century
« on: Friday 29 December 23 22:24 GMT (UK)  »
Wondering if anyone has any information on Burton Lodge, which accommodated a number of families, mostly employees at Burton Latimer farms and mines in the 19th century (agricultural labourers and and later ironstone miners). Burton Lodge does not feature on the Burton Latimer website, but is recorded on sequential Census records through the 19th Century. Families listed include John Death and William Death and families. Does it have another name in the historical record such as Cottages etc?

Hi DeniseJo
I realise that your original offer to check for family names was made quite some time ago and much has happened since then, however if you are still out there and willing and able, I wonder if you could tell me if there are any of the name of Dent, Agin (Agen), Hetherington, or Kitchin (Kitchen) on the list of watchmakers. I know that the name of Dent has some significant watchmaking history, but am seeking to establish whether there was any connection to Coventry, particularly prior to 1850s.
Many thanks for your offer.

Orkney / Re: James & Elizabeth Foulis' children

Hi Heapsof us
Thanks for your reply.
Just wondering which child of Margaret and Agen Dent you are descended from?
I have a lot of this data on my website I think and also, thanks to various sources, much from earlier. I did notice there were two Stewart Foulis baptisms. Were you able to confirm thetwins story?
I have a possible link to the Stewarts but it requires documented evidence. However, I think it would be fair to conclude that most of the Orkney population is descended from the Earls. Where you able to obtain confirmation of the connection?

1841 Census says that John Adams was a jobbing labourer and residence is in Jordan Well. This matches with Dent/Beasley data as her daughter Ellenor and husband William Dent (married 1831 at Foleshill and eldest son Joseph baptised at St Michael's Coventry in 1832) lived in Jordan Well before coming to South Australia. Susannah's son Joseph also lived near there and she apprenticed him to a Whitesmith of the name Thomas Davies in 1828 at which time she was listed as 'widowed'.

Incidentally, the family tradition is that Susannah was Romany, so when the marriage to Joseph Beazley came up as the only one that fitted, I went with that given the location in Shoreditch and the probable mobility of families.

I've been away from this for a few years so am trying to track down whether there was another reason why I believed Susanna Davis was correct. I think it may have been the only marriage I could find at the time as there is nothing on Ellenor's baptism record (although I haven't looked at witnesses etc).
There were 4 children including Ellenor 1808, Susannah 1806, Hannah 1811 and Joseph 1815. The Susannah born 1806 is also recorded as died 1812.
There are two Susannah Beasleys (the elder) marrying - 1830 to Joseph Smith 1830 to John Adams (or maybe she lost husband number two as well?
When I search for Susannah and marriage to Joseph Beasley I find nothing in Coventry or Foleshill (which is where the other family records seem to be based) so I'm wondering if the Beasley's moved to Foleshill after they married. Or maybe I just haven't found the right marriage yet.
